Former memory care worker allegedly posted nude patient videos to Snapchat – NBC 5 Chicago

Kristen Fisher should be able to focus on grieving her husband Skip, but instead she has to focus on a lawsuit against the people she paid to help care for her husband at the end of his life. According to authorities, a former employee at the memory care facility where Skip Fisher was receiving treatment allegedly took nude videos of him and posted them to social media. That former worker has now been arrested and charged with multiple felonies in the case. "Families are promised dignity and trust, but obviously in situations like this they got anything but," said Fisher's attorney, Margaret Battersby Black. "So it’s a double betrayal." 25-year-old Madison Russo worked at Encore Memory Care Center in South Barrington where Skip was under her care. During that time, Russo allegedly videotaped him while he was naked in bed. Skip was battling Parkinsons. He was non-verbal and unable to speak up. Russo pleaded not guilty to multiple charges in a criminal court appearance Tuesday. Russo is also accused of videotaping two other residents at Encore. One resident was allegedly naked in the shower, and the other was wearing nothing but socks on the toilet. Russo then shared these videos

‘BUDDY’ Slashes Its Way into Theaters with a Massive Opening Weekend – HorrorFuel.com

Move over, traditional movie monsters! There is a new, surprisingly plush terror dominating the indie box office. And it wears a coat of blinding orange fur. BUDDY , the twisted horror film featuring a deceptively cheerful children’s show mascot, has galloped past every reasonable forecast to secure the highest opening weekend of the year for any film playing on under 1,800 screens. From Roadside Attractions and Saban Films, the unhinged feature pulled in a whopping estimated $5.36 million across just 1,258 theaters on its opening night. It has already doubled initial industry projections. This proves that audiences are more than ready to watch their childhood nostalgia get shredded to bits. Record-Breaking Bloodshed for Indie Cinema This neon-hued juggernaut is not just turning heads; it is shattering long-standing distributor records. The film represents Roadside Attractions’ highest opening-weekend performance since before the pandemic and the second-largest opening in the company’s 23-year history. For Saban Films, it marks the single biggest theatrical debut in their 12-year trajectory. BUDDY now proudly stands shoulder to shoulder with recent breakout indie-horror titles like Terrifier and Clown in a Cornfield, confirming that offbeat, lower-budget genre cinema is currently carrying the theatrical experience on its back. American Academic Freedom Plunges To Near Authoritarian Levels – Cobb Courier

By John A. Tures, Professor of Political Science, LaGrange College There’s a lot of concern about an incident in Cobb County where more than 200 teachers were pulled from their classes to explain why they walked out of an administrator’s speech. Sadly, it’s not an isolated incident. From executive orders to the cancellation of faculty decision-making bodies, to the power nongovernmental organizations have through lobbies of politicians, teachers and professors are being micromanaged in a way that’s closer to authoritarian countries than fellow democracies. Visual Capitalist maps out countries for their levels of academic freedom, or the lack of it in some places. Partnering with V-Dem via Our World in Data, they measure academic freedom by those closer to a “one” have the most academic freedom, while those closer to zero have no academic freedom. America’s score is a 0.40. What does that mean? First of all, that score places the United States in the same company as Thailand and Bhutan. Thailand fell to 33/100 in their overall Freedom House score, rating them as “Not Free,” with a political rights score of 11/40 and a civil liberties score of 22/60. It’s an undemocratic regime. Bhutan is a monarchy, but thankfully
