Remembering damage from Katrina at Battleship Park – Fox 10

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park posted on its Facebook page information and pictures of damage caused by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. The anniversary was Saturday. Here is the post: 21 years ago, Hurricane Katrina left a lasting impact on the Gulf Coast, including USS ALABAMA Battleship Memorial Park. This powerful storm brought strong winds, flooding, and damage to the beautiful grounds we know and love. In the years since, our park staff, volunteers, and community have made valiant efforts to restore, rebuild, and preserve this special place. We are thankful for the amount of support we receive annually from our visitors to be able to continue impacting future generations through our nation’s history. Copyright 2026 WALA. When Facebook Gets It Wrong v.1.0 – Daily Kos

So apparently I owe my family connection to a 20-something’s algorithm now. Cool. Cool. Cool. Cool. Gather ’round, friends, I have a delightful little parable about the tech overlords we’ve so cheerfully handed our lives to. Some months back — and I genuinely don’t know when, because naturally no one tells you — Facebook decided my account had committed some unspecified sin against the community, and poof: four decades of family photos, my grandkids, old friends I’ve known most of my eighty-three years, all of it, gone behind a wall. No explanation. No email. Just the digital equivalent of a bouncer silently pointing at the door. I’m sure there’s a perfectly good reason. I’m sure a very serious Trust & Safety algorithm, trained by a team of extremely earnest twenty-somethings in Menlo Park, looked at my occasionally cranky political commentary and concluded: yep, threat detected, this man’s a menace. Really keeping the platform safe out there, champs. So naturally, I did what any reasonable person does: I tried to appeal. And here’s my favorite part,  » Read More

Twitch Streamer Plays Mario with Chest Buttons, Shocking Peers

Last updated Aug 29, 2026 Hello_kiko demonstrated her inventive setup—a shirt with PlayStation-style buttons and a D-pad that register presses via conductive patches connected to hardware and software—while playing an early Super Mario Bros. level. The clip left streamer Morgpie visibly shocked and drew mixed responses online, with critics calling it inappropriate for Twitch's young audience and supporters seeing it as playful innovation. This follows Morgpie's past boundary-pushing streams, like using body parts as green-screen overlays, which influenced Twitch's rules on intimate areas. Kiko joked about the device's appeal in later posts amid ongoing debates on platform limits. This story is a summary of posts on X and may evolve over time. Grok can make mistakes, verify its outputs.

El-Sayed apologizes to Jewish Democrats as he seeks to bridge party divides – CBS 58

By Eric Bradner Lansing, Michigan (CNN) — Abdul El-Sayed, the Michigan Democratic Senate nominee, is scrambling this weekend to try to win over skeptical Jewish Democrats — meeting individually and with groups of Jewish party leaders and apologizing for controversial past remarks as he tries to unite a fractured party before November. But he downplayed the importance of his relationship with Hasan Piker, the far-left Twitch streamer who campaigned with El-Sayed during the primary — even after Piker told his audience earlier this month that Israel has become so toxic American Jews who support the country could be met with violence. “I don’t ever want my comments to hurt anybody’s feelings. It’s important to me that people understand that I take seriously the pain of all communities in this state,” El-Sayed told CNN. “But I don’t want to have a conversation about a Twitch streamer in California. It’s just not a serious conversation.” El-Sayed, the progressive firebrand, defeated Rep. Haley Stevens, a moderate who was supported by tens of millions in spending linked to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, in a hard-fought primary early this month. He is seeking to unify the Democratic Party ahead of his matchup with

The Many Lives of Natasha Poly. – Perfect Magazine

Natasha Poly for Perfect Issue 11.Photographer: Willy VanderperreFashion Editor: Katie Grand Writer: Byan Yambao Natasha Poly Zooms me from Amsterdam on a Saturday evening, fresh from the gym, hair pulled into a slick ponytail, wearing a plunging white vest. Her skin glows with the kind of frightening perfection that makes her look less human than bionic. My numero uno.  As I was finding my place in fashion in the early 2000s, she was quietly becoming the gold standard. Her runway walk of yesteryears infiltrated my core being. Put me on a goddamn airport moving walkway with music blasting through my AirPods and I will start mincing toward passport control, one foot directly in front of the other, summoning my inner Natasha. More than 20 years into her career, the precision is severe. No lost decade. No comeback. Luck expires. Most careers zigzag. Natasha’s is laser guided. Fashion kept moving the target. She never missed. ‘The challenge is to reinvent yourself all the time,’ she says. ‘You have to show yourself from different perspectives so people don’t get used to this one image.’ Earlier in her career, it was go, go, go: red-eye flights, night shoots, life out of a suitcase.
