Spotify, Substack, and LinkedIn roll out warning labels as AI-generated media expands

Photo Credit: Spotify Spotting AI-generated content online is getting easier as the web is filling up with machine-made material, from music and avatars to bland, formulaic posts. In response, platforms are starting to add warning labels and detection features to give users a heads-up on AI-produced content, according to New York Magazine. The scoop As AI is swamping the internet, a growing group of platforms are experimenting with disclosure methods. TikTok, YouTube, and Meta mark at least some AI-made material; Substack works with Pangram so writers can check whether text appears to have used AI; and Spotify says it plans to identify music generated by AI. The push comes as user frustration with spammy, assembly-line content continues to rise. Spotify said, "Listeners have been clear in telling us that they don't like seeing an artist profile that seems human, only to find out that the persona is AI-generated." Part of that pressure has come from the European Union, which requires chatbot and generative AI providers to alert users when they are interacting with AI and to tag outputs in a machine-readable format so they can be recognized as artificial or altered. Why is this important? Only a few years into

Clarksburg man faces soliciting charges after messaging Snapchat account posing as 14-year-old

GRAFTON, W.Va. — A Harrison County man faces charges for soliciting a minor for allegedly attempting to message a 14-year-old on social media for explicit content. The Taylor County Sheriff’s Office announced that Travis Grant Jr., 20, of Clarksburg, has been charged with soliciting a minor via computer for allegedly requesting explicit material from a fake Snapchat account that was posing as a 14 year old girl. According to a criminal complaint, officers with the Grafton Police responded to a Walnut Street apartment for an alleged “sexual assault.” Once arriving and speaking with officers, two females eventually spoke with deputies, who explained that one of them set up a fake Snapchat account pretending to be 14 to talk to Grant. Deputies later confirmed that Grant believed the female was 14 based on her profile and messages while asking her for explicit material based on saved screenshots. Officials made a preservation request to Snapchat to preserve all records of messages between all parties involved and search warrants were obtained for multiple cell phones. Grant is currently in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail with bond set at $20,000.

New DOJ Guidance Could Give States Cover To Cut Disability Services – Cobb Courier

Posted By: Nor August 21, 2026 This article by Stephanie Armour first appeared in KFF Health News, republished with permission. Aug 21, 2026 People with disabilities have long fought for the right to live at home rather than in institutions. Now, the Department of Justice says states don’t have to help make that happen. The decision by the Trump administration comes amid massive cuts in federal funding for Medicaid. Advocates worry this could be a one-two punch for disabled Americans who want to live independently. KFF Health News senior correspondent Stephanie Armour joined WAMU’s Health Hub on Aug. 19 to explain what this change means for Americans with disabilities and their loved ones. Wolk: YouTube Measurement Follies, Theater Chains Now Pro Paramount-Warner

YouTube Measurement Follies YouTube completely revamped their measurement metrics this week, much to the concern of the television industry which has spent the past decade dealing with its own measurement follies. The new YouTube metrics, which count the sighting of just one frame as a “view”, are controversial with people who have spent their careers relying on Nielsen and metrics that relied on considerably longer watch times. For the digital media crew, however, it was more “what took you so long?” Meaning that Instagram and TikTok, YouTube’s main rivals, had been using that one frame metric for a while now and they saw YouTube as just bringing their own metrics in line. Why It Matters The old YouTube metric, the one that made a somewhat-longer-but-still-a-mystery amount of time into a “view” will now be the metric for “engagement.” Meaning that existing creators of long form videos should see a nice boon as their view numbers shoot up and their engagement numbers hold steady, making them more attractive to advertisers. Short form creators, the ones who more directly compete with TikTok and Instagram (or, more likely, are on all three platforms) will feel pressure to keep churning out new videos to

Agentio Data Finds YouTube Public Views Could Rise 30% Under New Counting Method

Agentio Data Finds YouTube Public Views Could Rise 30% Under New Counting Method Agentio Data Finds YouTube Public Views Could Rise 30% Under New Counting Method PR Newswire NEW YORK, Aug. 21, 2026 Analysis of 35,800 Creator videos shows the gap between exposure and attention—and why Brands and Creators should anchor pricing and performance on engaged views NEW YORK, Aug. 21, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Agentio, the AI-native platform for Creator-led advertising, today released new research estimating that public view counts on YouTube long-form videos could run approximately 30% higher than engaged views after the platform changes how it counts views on August 24, 2026. The analysis of 35,800 YouTube Creator videos from June through July 2026 shows how the new public metric will measure exposure from the first frame, while "engaged views" will continue to reflect viewers who choose to keep watching. The change standardizes view counting across YouTube formats: long-form and live videos will join Shorts in recording a view as soon as playback begins. YouTube's analytics, retention metrics and Partner Program earnings will remain anchored on the newly renamed "engaged views," making it the more consistent measure of attention for Creator advertising. Key findings include: Long-form public views could
