The Arizona Diamondbacks placed second baseman Ketel Marte on the restricted list Monday night after he did not show up at Fenway Park for the team’s series opener at the Boston Red Sox. According to the Arizona Republic, Marte traveled with the team from Atlanta, the site of their previous series, to Boston. But the three-time All-Star did not arrive at the park as expected on Monday. That caused the Diamondbacks to delay releasing their starting lineup till mere minutes before first pitch. Ildemaro Vargas, who has split time between first and second base this season, started the game at second and Tim Tawa was Arizona’s first baseman. The D-backs also recalled infielder Jose Fernandez from Triple-A Reno in a corresponding roster move. It wasn’t clear how soon Fernandez could be in Boston for the series, as Reno was scheduled to begin a home series Tuesday. Marte, 32, has been the subject of odd absences before. His home in Arizona was robbed the night of the 2025 All-Star Game, and he chose to travel to his native Dominican Republic in the aftermath, » Read More

Arthur Tzaneros resigned as managing director and chief executive after deleting the messages sent in a WhatsApp group of Scots old boys, which called the 14-year-old victim of the alleged assault by three students a “willing participant” in the attack, and labelled the students involved “deadshits”. ACFS Port Logistics is a container logistics giant run by the billionaire Tzaneros family. Arthur Tzaneros was pictured partying in Mykonos as the freight giant went into administration. The messages were sent to more than 100 fellow old boys on Friday before being reported in The Sydney Morning Herald this week, leading to Tzaneros’ resignation less than an hour after this masthead’s story was published. “On Friday, I made comments on a private WhatsApp group about a serious and sensitive situation that’s currently in the news. I deeply regret what I said, and for showing a complete lack of sensitivity to that situation,” Tzaneros said in a statement to

The Cavaliers kick off their fifth season under head coach Tony Elliott with an Aug. 29 game against ACC foe NC State at Scott Stadium. UVA players started studying the Wolfpack early in the summer but took a break for training camp, which started late last month. Amid the grind of camp, the opportunity to prepare for an actual game “makes it more exciting,” quarterback Beau Pribula said Monday at the Hardie Center, “and we’re just excited to get started on .” Elliott came to UVA in December 2021 as a first-time head coach. Much has changed in his program and his approach since then. “It's almost hard to remember the first camp,” Elliott said Monday after the Wahoos’ 15th summer practice, “but I know that we've tweaked the practice schedule. We've done a lot more research internally with our sports performance team to see what the best model is, in terms of how many days in a row you practice before you take an off day.
