The name is supposed to get your attention: White People School. Tamara Johnson-Shealey, the Black woman behind the provocative new initiative from the nonprofit organization Reparations Sunday, believes that dealing with the name of the project itself is a big lesson for the intended students. Like, they’re like, ‘What? What is this?’ And I think once they get past that part of it, that’s when they’re open to wanting to know more.” Johnson-Shealey, a mediator and organizer of Reparations Sunday, is facilitating Acknowledge the Divide/White People School. There have been plenty of fandoms on Tumblr, but few were quite as specifically devoted to one fictional character (and the people paid to play him) as the "Peter Pandom." Emerging during the early 2010s, Peter Pandom was a Peter Pan-focused subculture that went well beyond the original book or Disney's animated film. Much of the community's attention centered on live-action portrayals of Peter Pan at Disney parks, particularly the face characters who could interact directly with guests. Fans collected photos, made edits, wrote fan fiction, and maintained dedicated blogs documenting their favorite performers. For some fans, however, the interest went considerably further than appreciating a Disney character. Certain members became intensely invested in the personal lives of the actors portraying Peter Pan, with reports of fans following performers outside the parks and attempting to track their lives away from their characters. The resulting controversy eventually helped turn Peter Pandom into a memorable piece of early Tumblr fandom history. So, where did Peter Pandom come from, who was "Spieling Peter," and how did a fandom about Disney's Peter Pan performers become part of Tumblr lore? Let's find out. The Cincinnati Bengals encountered one of the stronger storms so far this training camp. Before it hit, it was truly a thing of beauty. As you can imagine, practice was moved inside the bubble after that. One of the biggest trends was players getting days off/new injuries (we do not know for some of them until after practice). One of the bigger names was one of the team’s starting cornerbacks. Dax Hill misses another practice Hill has been dealing with what appears to be a hamstring issue he suffered in last Thursday’s practice. It appears the team is exercising an abundance of caution with Hill. He probably appreciates it to a point as well since he is in a contract year looking for a new deal. Safe to say Hill likely won’t play against the Detroit Lions on Thursday. As for the rest, it seems there were a bit of rest days galore for the defense Dexter Lawrence and Bryan Cook seemed to have veteran days. Meanwhile, Cashius Howell and Tacario Davis both missed at least the team portion of practice. Likely will need updates. Tee Higgins one-hand snag Higgins appears to be in mid-season form with his circus catches.
