Welcome back to Saturday Night Social. I wasn't sure at first how to slide into Jennifer Aniston's DMs. After deleting "You look beautiful" for fear of being too forward, I landed on "Good morning, Jennifer." Friendly and vague. Send. After all, this message wasn't meant for the "real" Jennifer Aniston from the Friends and Aveeno days of yore. This was for Twitter user "Jenifer Aniston" with 2,221 followers, and a bio that reads, "I hope you never stop watching my movies." In case you slept through the last decade, the website formerly known as Twitter has devolved into something of a patient zero for dead internet theory. In other words, it's pretty much just bots, with a side of Poo Crave and Elon Musk. An article published in The New Yorker last week cited a study estimating that, in a sample of more than 1 million Twitter accounts, 64% were likely bots. And after taking several strolls through the dark halls of this hellsite, I now believe that Jennifer Aniston is responsible. Or rather, the fellowship of catfishing bots posing as Jennifer Aniston is responsible. Getting to know Jenifer I needed to know more, but I wasn't getting anywhere with

Judge Bryan Biedscheid said in a ruling late Thursday that the bulk of the money — US$420 million — will be used for treatment services for young people. The rest will go toward awareness and prevention, screening services and other costs over the next five years. The new penalty is in addition to the US$375 million in civil penalties that jurors ordered against Meta in March after determining the company knowingly harmed children’s mental health and concealed what it knew about child sexual exploitation on its platforms. In the second phase, prosecutors asked the judge to impose fundamental changes at Meta aimed at reining in addictive features, improving age verification and preventing child sexual exploitation through default privacy settings and closer oversight. The total amount Meta is responsible for — US$942 million — is a small fraction of its annual profit, which was about $60 billion in 2025. Investors seemed to shrug off the New Mexico ruling in after-hours trading Thursday, sending Meta’s stock down less than

Piker, a far-left streamer and YouTube personality, was set to appear in January as part of the school’s 2026-27 Speaker Series, the university said in a statement. However, following “a review of the process by which the event was planned,” the university canceled the event. “It was determined that the process for organizing this event did not meet the necessary level of rigor for University-hosted events in the Speaker Series,” the statement said. “Going forward, procedures will be updated to ensure the standards we have for University-hosted events like the Speaker Series are met, particularly so that we can help elevate the level of dialogue on divisive topics during a polarized time in our country,” it added. The university’s cancellation of Piker, who previously said America “deserved 9/11” before later calling the remark “inappropriate,” has prompted criticism from First Amendment advocates, with the nonprofit civil liberties group Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE) condemning the move. Students at the University of Washington are on campus for the last day of in-person classes on Friday, March 6

Kaelen Culpepper's first 24 hours as a Major Leaguer had just about everything you could expect from a player finally getting the call. Tears in a Triple-A clubhouse, a frantic trip to Milwaukee, a sellout crowd and, eventually, a bucket of mustard and baby powder waiting for him after the game. Somehow, the part that looked the most overwhelming was also the part where Culpepper seemed most comfortable. His first career hit for the Minnesota Twins came in his second at-bat Friday night, and it came after he fell behind Milwaukee left-hander Shane Drohan 0-2. Rather than allowing the count to speed him up, Culpepper went back to the approach that had carried him through Triple-A and into the Twins' plans. “I mean, I'm just sticking to my approach,” Culpepper said postgame on Twins TV. “Not really letting what happened early in that at-bat dictate what was gonna be the outcome. » Read More
