Vimeo launched a new app so sellers can create product videos for their Shopify-hosted stores and social networking accounts. Vimeo for Shopify is a new integration with Shopify that lets merchants “automatically create dynamic, professional-quality product videos at scale,” a spokesperson for Vimeo told EcommerceBytes. Sellers can seamlessly distribute videos to Shopify and other social channels directly from their Vimeo accounts. Vimeo for Shopify leverages proprietary AI to pull assets from sellers’ existing product catalog — photos, videos, SKU insights, text, and prices — and create a collection of high-quality videos in minutes. There are over a million businesses using Shopify, and a recent survey showed over 60% of respondents considered video an important or extremely important asset for their Shopify stores, according to the spokesperson. Vimeo already has partnerships with Eventbrite, GoDaddy, Patreon, and Facebook as it expands its footprint with strategic partnerships. Irving Azoff has offered a decidedly blunt take on the music payments (or the relative lack thereof) made by social networks including Facebook, Snapchat, and TikTok, indicating that they “resist paying for music until you go beat the f—k out of them.”The 72-year-old management mainstay, who hasn’t hesitated to voice his opinion of big-name content platforms in the past, disclosed his firmly worded stance on social networks in a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times. This piece was published late last week, just before the Full Stop Management exec and chairman was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a non-performer, receiving the Ahmet Ertegun Award. Google has already announced that it’s planning to retire Google Play Music by the end of the year, and the company has recently started sending out final reminders to those who are still using the service. Instead, the search giant hopes everybody would just make the switch to YouTube Music, and it’s thus providing users with the necessary tools to migrate their data with just a few clicks. But the experience with YouTube Music is far from flawless, and former Google Play Music users have recently discovered another big annoyance on Android Auto. It’s the option to shuffle the favorite music, which by the looks of things, is completely broken on YouTube Music. “One feature I liked about Google Play was that I could just thumbs up a bunch of songs, and shuffle that Thumbs Up playlist on Android Auto when I got in the car. The thumbs up playlist is now called Your Likes on YT Music. But when I either manually shuffle that playlist on Android Auto or say ‘Hey Google, shuffle my Your Likes playlist on YTMusic’ it ends up shuffling music that's not on that playlist in with the music that is. And I end up listening to a bunch of songs I don't care about,” one user explains on Google’s forums. Several others have confirmed that the same thing happens on their devices as well, but oddly enough, everything is working correctly when Android Auto isn’t running and YouTube Music is just running on the phone.
