WhatsApp's New Mute Forever Feature!

WhatsApp recently introduced a new feature that lets you mute a chat forever and it is available on both android and IOs.  The new ‘Always’ mute option that would allow you to mute the notifications of a WhatsApp chat or a group forever. Earlier the messaging platform used to provide three mute options – 8 Hours, 1 Week and 1 Year, but now instead of a year, you can mute a chat permanently. This feature is available for everyone on both Android and iOS devices as well as the web version.  This would be a welcome addition for WhatsApp users, at least in our book. I mute notifications from every group due to the sheer number of messages stemming from them, but the “one year” option felt like a band-aid rather than a permanent solution. After all, I have to mute those groups all over again in 365 days. The only other option right now is to simply leave those groups — not ideal for the likes of family chats and work groups. There’s no word on an exact timeline for this tweak to roll out to WhatsApp users at large, and the latest beta doesn’t seem to offer it yet. But we’ll update the article as soon as the change is pushed out to devices. Moreover, another feature was introduced as well, that allows WhatsApp Business users to sell products directly from the platform. The feature will allow purchases to be made directly from a WhatsApp chat with a business. The company will also provide hosting services to small businesses through Facebook’s partners in the country.

Blake Snell breaks his silence over being pulled in Game 6 (Video)

ARLINGTON, TEXAS - OCTOBER 27: Blake Snell #4 of the Tampa Bay Rays is taken out of the game by manager Kevin Cash during the sixth inning against the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game Six of the 2020 MLB World Series at Globe Life Field on October 27, 2020 in Arlington, Texas. (Photo by Maxx Wolfson/Getty Images) Blake Snell discussed how he feels about his manager in a recent Twitch stream.Tampa Bay Rays manager Kevin Cash has taken all the heat in the world for removing Blake Snell during Game 6 of the World Series. The move openly excited the Los Angeles Dodgers and Cash’s bullpen quickly proceeded to blow the slim 1-0 Snell was holding.Snell was visibly not pleased, rightfully so, and it would be easy to think he wants out of Tampa. He is known to stream on Twitch from time to time and was on recently when the question came up about how he feels about Cash. He kept it classy.Snell doesn’t throw his manager under the bus“I love him,” Snell says about his manager. He’s a great manager, a great person. Maybe he should have kept me in, maybe he shouldn’t. You know how I feel, I know how everyone else feels.”This is quite the political answer from the ace. But he remains under contract with the Rays and is not going to openly blast his manager who had success all season. He just made one blunder and his bullpen let him down. To be fair, the offense needed to do more in that game as well.Cash knew he would take heat for the move and said as much following the game. He decided to stick with his plan and it failed. However, even if it did work it was still a bizarre move to take…

DrLupo condemns claims his Twitch community is “racist” and toxic

Entertainment Published: 31/Oct/2020 16:40 by Joe Craven ReKTGlobal Popular Twitch streamer Benjamin ‘DrLupo’ Lupo has felt compelled to reiterate his stance against hate on Twitch, amid claims his community is growing increasingly toxic and “racist”. The last few years have seen DrLupo launched into the most followed accounts on Twitch, thanks mainly to his time on Epic Games’ Fortnite, often alongside Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins. However, such a monumental following brings issues, often in the form of individuals intentionally being toxic and making offensive remarks. This is something DrLupo has struggled with of late, with some members of the Twitch community accusing his following of being “racist.” One Tweet accused Lupo of not doing enough to combat the toxicity among his followers, to which the streamer responded, asking: “You’re telling me I’m responsible for the thousands of random people that I don’t know?” CouRage - TwitterDrLupo (right) has also featured as a commentator for Fortnite. On October 30, a moderator for DrLupo’s Twitch shared a lengthy look at the channel’s history of combatting racism and hate in chat. The Google document, entitled Words, is designed to show the extensive amount of work Lupo and his mods go to in order to keep his community as hate-free as possible. Examples given show messages from banned users, as well as messages dating back to 2016, in which DrLupo outlines what is not acceptable among his community. Sutton Schools might have a Race Problem

I really didn’t think I’d talk about an issue like this in my second article. My answer to this question was quick- yes. My interest in this matter rose after a protest at Nonsuch High School for Girls in Sutton. I’ve seen a lot of news reports about the event, but I question if any of them understood the event. Most commonly cited as the reason for these protests are a collection of snapchat posts, but that seemed almost dismissive, ignorant of larger problems causing the tensions. I felt that the protest was an act of bravery. It was well thought out, planned by Year 11’s at the school, in response to continuous failings in areas relating to race at the school. But the issue is not solely limited to Nonsuch. The experiences I’ve heard, read, are almost laughable. I wanted to explore these issues at schools throughout schools in Sutton. First, I want to run through some alleged reports about racism in other schools in the Sutton area. They range from the disappointing and arguable (Continuously romanticising and supporting colonialism in assemblies at Wallington County Grammar, reading the n-word in Mice and men- all schools largely, ‘banter’ about jihadis and blacks in prison being permitted by teachers ), to the mildly disturbing(telling Asian students to p** *up, at Wallington County Grammar, attempting to force Hindus to cut off religious bracelets at, up until their parents could verify , banning the congregation of black girls for a period of time due to apparent worries about gang affiliations at St Philomena’s, and a German teacher at Sutton Grammar saying they would be worried to walk their dog in an area with a high east Asian population). Nonsuch The protest which lead to the resurrection of my interest in this topic occurred…

OnePlus acknowledges WhatsApp send button bug when sending emoji after OxygenOS 11 …

OnePlus has been fine-tuning the OxygenOS 11 (Android 11) update for quite some time as there are several bugs and issues. The OnePlus 8 series bagged the latest OS update earlier in October while other eligible devices are still in line to get the same. Those on the OxygenOS 11 update have been reporting about a bug that seems to be affecting some functionality in WhatsApp. When users are opening to the emoji section on WhatsApp, the send button gets disabled and appears as a blank teal dot. There are a lot of reports about this issues on the OnePlus Community as well as other online platforms like Twitter. Also, it was being speculated that the bug might be in WhatsApp itself and is not related to OxygenOS 11. However, a OnePlus staff member has stated that the bug has been reported and development team is working to fix the issue. This indicates that the problem lies within OxygenOS itself and there have been no such reports about other Android devices. We’ve made a note of it and our DEV team is currently working on this. We’ll keep you posted regarding any further updates. Moreover, it is unclear how is the an OS update is affecting the functionality on an emoji platform in a particular app. Nevertheless, it is good to see that the OEM promptly addressed the issue and has already started working to fix it. That said, we will keep tracking this for further development and will provide more details once new information becomes available. In the meantime, you can check out our OnePlus Android 11 (OxygenOS 11) update tracker to get the latest updates on the topic. We also have a dedicated OxygenOS 11 bug tracker that you can go through to know about the bugs and…

The Yarn Store Would Like You to Vote

And so would nearly every company out there this year.Oct. 31, 2020, 5:00 a.m. ETA few nights ago, Shana Gadarian, a political scientist at Syracuse University, was ordering a takeout dinner when the DoorDash app suggested she use the time waiting for her order to “make a voting plan.”“Thanks, DoorDash,” she said.As the extended 2020 voting season closes in on Election Day, such messages are inescapable. With banner ads and special photo filters, social media apps like Instagram and Snapchat implore you to vote. Retail clothing companies send emails encouraging civic participation, and they sell merchandise emblazoned with messages to vote.Large companies like Coca-Cola and Delta Air Lines are incorporating get-out-the-vote messages in their advertising and product design. Even small businesses — the dry cleaners, delis and yarn stores of American cities — are using signs to urge customers to vote. The ubiquity of the message, along with the wide range of corporate actors embracing it, is new this year, said several researchers and advocates who closely monitor get-out-the-vote strategies. Voting has become cool this year, and nearly every company wants to share in the feel-good glow of a pro-voting message. The reasons seem to be part pandemic, part the high drama of a highly polarized election, and part pressure from employees and customers.Susan Tynan, chief executive and founder of Framebridge, which makes custom frames for art and mementos, said she was inspired to expand her company’s civic engagement after talking with other C.E.O.s about surviving the early months of the pandemic. Keep up with Election 2020 “There’s just been a shift when C.E.O.s have come together, to say there’s a need for clear communication and planning, and honestly moral leadership,” she said. “So I think we’re all doing our best to try and step in where we can.”Framebridge has emailed its…

The Election Work Diary of a Reporter With 2.5 Million Subscribers

Peter Hamby has found a way to be a political journalist for a new generation. After covering two presidential campaigns at CNN, he made an unusual career move in 2015: joining the social media app Snapchat. As the host of the platform’s first original series, “Good Luck America,” Mr. Hamby, 39, breaks down the political landscape and coming election for the millions of young people who scroll through the app every day.“Politics feels existential to them,” Mr. Hamby said. “Climate change feels existential. Going to high school every day with the threat of gun violence is life or death.”It’s an audience that is most likely not tuning in to cable news bulletins or reading the Sunday New York Times. So he’s meeting these Americans where they are.“I’m aware of where I stand at Snapchat, and a lot of people don’t think that’s necessarily an ivory tower of journalism, but we are creating journalism that I think is credible and serious,” Mr. Hamby said. “It is insanely important for media organizations to be way more thoughtful, way more creative about creating formats for people that plug into their lives.”Now based in Los Angeles, Mr. Hamby, who is also a contributing writer for Vanity Fair, is a world away from his former life as a roving campaign reporter.“I feel like I’ve become smarter about American politics since leaving Washington and leaving the establishment media side of things,” he said.Interviews are conducted by email, text and phone, then condensed and edited.Sunday9 a.m. Reading The Los Angeles Times and listening to Paul Simon’s “Graceland.” For me, Sundays are for reading, cooking and music — trying to turn off as much as possible. That’s obviously close to impossible with two weeks until a presidential election, but I know I won’t be good during the week if…
