The New Instagram Status Symbol? Your Sofa

In some cases it has been discreetly lurking – a Togo just visible in a shot of stylist Vivid Wu’s living room, or a Terrazza reflected in Pernille Teisbaek’s mirror selfie (and not just any mirror: an Ettore Sottsass Ultrafragola). In other instances it has been scene-stealing, like Camille Charrière’s amorphous Alpha. And at times it’s been internet-busting: like Frank Ocean’s Dune collection, or the bulbous Bellini that belongs to Chrissy Teigen. The big ticket item of the moment? A sofa.A year into lockdown, and the focus has gone from what you’re lounging in to what you’re lounging on. With no one to dress up for and nowhere to go, sofa style has replaced street style. “It’s the perfect backdrop for striking poses,” say Anna Zaoui and Isabelle Dubern-Mallevays, co-founders of The Invisible Collection, a luxury online platform selling bespoke pieces by interior designers and state of the art makers. “One can lay clothes and products on it… one can stage a whole campaign on a great sofa! Facebook is Killing Journalism and Democracy. We Should Do Something About It.

It’s high time the federal government do something about It. March 13, 2021 | 2:56 AM Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg testifies before the Senate judiciary and commerce committees on April 10, 2018 on Capitol Hill over social media data breach, in Washington, DC, USA. Photo by Olivier Douliery/Abaca/Sipa USA(Sipa via AP Images). If the political world feels increasingly off kilter, there’s a probably a good reason. Numerous forces are combining to rollick not only the United States but the entire world. These include increasing inequality, rising housing costs, wage declines and job destabilization as a result of technological changes, public policy and globalization–and, of course, the COVID pandemic and the looming specter of the climate crisis. But a huge part of the malaise involves angry political polarization, particularly asymmetric polarization by white supremacists in America and Europe, and ethnonationalists more broadly around the world. Decline in trust in institutions runs hand in hand with a newly fractured media landscape, in which legitimate media companies and journalists struggle to survive financially but disinformation thrives.  » Read More

Facebook soon to add Instagram reels in WhatsApp

Facebook is attempting to merge all three of its main networks in order to have a more seamless experience. Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp are among them. Instagram and WhatsApp used to have their own separate identity before. After Facebook has owned them, the features became quite common among each other. Despite the fact that all of these have a few common features, they are linked to each other by Facebook in some forms. After introducing the story feature in both the apps, now Facebook is deciding to add Instagram reels on WhatsApp too. According to an app researcher, WhatsApp might include Instagram Reels in a future update. Given that, these social media platforms are owned by Facebook. Facebook is working to merge them all for a better user experience. This allows users to effortlessly move among WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram.People prefer to contact different friends on separate sites. Usually, on all three platforms, friend circles are not common, therefore, exchanging mutual information will be helpful for both users and the business. Lancing Paedophile Barry Borthwick exposed himself on Snapchat

A PAEDOPHILE spared a jail spell was back online exposing himself despite being banned from chat apps. Barry Borthwick had admitted possessing disgusting images of child sex abuse in Lancing. The 50-year-old was given a suspended sentence and put under the terms of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order. It was supposed to stop his access to online chat apps like Snapchat and Kik without getting prior permission from a police handler. But just weeks later Borthwick was on Snapchat talking with adults and exposing his genitals, in breach of the order. At Hove Crown Court he admitted breaching the suspended sentence order and the sexual harm order. He was jailed for a year. The suspended sentence was imposed when Borthwick was found with 15 category A images depicting the worst kind of child sex abuse in 2019. He also had 21 category B images showing child sex and 15 category C images. Richard Cherrill, prosecuting, said some of the images showed the “horrendous exploitation of children” including rape. Some of the children shown in the images were estimated to be as young as five years old. His Honour Judge Jeremy Gold QC said Borthwick was barred from using chat sites…

Clubhouse's social media magic attracted Oprah, Elon Musk and me. But can it last?

Clubhouse — the new social media platform based on live audio conversations — began as a space dominated by Silicon Valley and tech influencers. But it has steadily grown over the last few months into a broader platform that now hosts everyone from U.S. billionaires to Chinese dissidents.
