A PAEDOPHILE spared a jail spell was back online exposing himself despite being banned from chat apps. Barry Borthwick had admitted possessing disgusting images of child sex abuse in Lancing. The 50-year-old was given a suspended sentence and put under the terms of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order. It was supposed to stop his access to online chat apps like Snapchat and Kik without getting prior permission from a police handler. But just weeks later Borthwick was on Snapchat talking with adults and exposing his genitals, in breach of the order. At Hove Crown Court he admitted breaching the suspended sentence order and the sexual harm order. He was jailed for a year. The suspended sentence was imposed when Borthwick was found with 15 category A images depicting the worst kind of child sex abuse in 2019. He also had 21 category B images showing child sex and 15 category C images. Richard Cherrill, prosecuting, said some of the images showed the “horrendous exploitation of children” including rape.
