By Ekta Singh March 2, 2021 Tumblr is a place where people ask everything. Be it a valid question or something that no one wants to get an answer to, people ask everything. In between all the mess, someone has given a thoughtful explanation on the act of friend-zoning and in turn. You can scroll down to see the detailed explanation. Relationships are never easy, but that doesn’t stop people from explaining them to make them easierTumblr user Alara J. Rogers (alarajrogers) has said something in her post that includes a screenshot of two tweets. One read “A woman’s idea of ‘Let just be friends’ is ‘Hey listen to all my problems and keep me company… while I have sex with someone else,’” (sic!).“So a woman’s idea of being friends is being friends?”Tumblr user Alara J. Rogers saw this tweet about the friendzone and a light bulb moment occurredShe went on to explain how this comical definition of friendzoning and the response to it actually make sense “So men suffer terribly from being trained in this way. But women suffer in that they can’t reach out to male friends for basic friendship.”

Silent but deadly: there is nothing more destructive than data corruptions that cannot be caught by the various error capture tools in hardware and even in software, can be hard to spot before they have infected an entire application. This is especially devastating at Facebook scale but engineering teams at the social giant have discovered strategies to keep a local problem from going global. A single hardware-rooted error can cascade into a massive problem when multiplied at hyperscale and for Facebook, keeping this at bay takes a combination of hardware resiliency, production detection mechanisms, and a broader fault-tolerant software architecture. Facebook’s infrastructure team started an effort to understand the roots and fixes for silent data corruption in 2018 to understand how fleet-wide fixes might look—and what those might detection strategies could cost in terms of overhead. Engineers found that many of the cascading errors are the result of CPUs in production but not always due to the “soft errors” of radiation or synthetic fault injection. Rather, they find these can happen randomly on CPUs in repeatable ways.  » Read More

YouTube has started rolling out its new feature Shorts - it is a platform for short videos, shot in portrait orientation, and is an obvious attempt to curb TikTok and its growing influence online. Those in the United States have started receiving the feature, and the global rollout is expected soon. Currently, Shorts is still in Beta, so not all American users will get it after an update of their application. The company is likely doing some A/B testing, but given the fact YouTube has been working on Shorts for the past 12 months, the feature’s stable version should be right around the corner. YouTube’s Shorts were getting over 3.5 billion views while in early beta, so it is no wonder the short videos are now getting to more and more users. Just for comparison, TikTok is reaching 1 billion monthly active users and is likely to become the first platform to reach the milestone in such a short time. We've included a link to APKMirror for those willing to sideload the latest version although seeing how the feature also requires a server-side switch it's no guarantee that you'll get it.
