Twitch suspends Donald Trump's account indefinitely – CVBJ

Bloomberg Does the 25th Amendment apply to Trump? Maybe: Cass Sunstein (Bloomberg) – In the wake of President Donald Trump’s incitement to riot the Capitol, a new discussion arises about the two ways to remove a sitting president. The first is impeachment. The second is the 25th Amendment to the United States Constitution. There is no question that Trump’s conduct represents challengeable crimes, of greater and lesser gravity. The applicability of the 25th Amendment is not so obvious. The two grounds for impeachment are radically different. The impeachment is for flagrant abuse of the powers of the office. The 25th Amendment is related to some type of disability that prevents a president from fulfilling his duties. For current purposes, the key provision is the fourth section: Provided that the vice president and most of the top officials of the Executive departments, or of another body such as Congress, as provided by law, transmit to the president pro tempore of the Senate and to the president of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the president is incapable of carrying out the powers and obligations of his office, the vice president will assume immediately the powers and obligations of said…

Man Arrested For Choking Ex-Girlfriend After She Blocked Him On Instagram, Refused Calls

James Aiken By Isaac Ray A man was arrested for domestic battery and robbery charges after choking his ex-girlfriend after she blocked him on Instagram and refused to answer his calls.  On August 22, Coral Springs Police were dispatched to a delayed domestic battery call at the 8500 block of NW 35th Street. When officers arrived, they encountered the victim who alleged that her ex-boyfriend, James Aiken, 22, of Margate, had assaulted her after days of harassment.  According to the report, the victim had awoken on August 2 to more than 20 missed calls from Aiken. She told police she had recently blocked him on Instagram and blocked a phone number associated with him the night before after an argument.  Aiken was able to reach her from a number she did not recognize and began threatening her, but she did not think anything of it or contact the police at the time. Soon after, however, Aiken arrived at her home, when she came outside and began speaking to him. The report states that after a brief verbal dispute, the victim said Aiken grabbed her by the throat and pushed her towards his vehicle. She told officers her breathing was restricted…

Daily Crunch: Facebook bans Trump for two weeks

Online platforms take action against President Trump, Lenovo tries out a swiveling screen and Roblox raises $250 million. This is your Daily Crunch for January 7, 2021. The big story: Facebook bans Trump for two weeks After a pro-Trump mob stormed the U.S. Capitol yesterday, a number of online platforms moved to suspend accounts connected to the outgoing president. For example, Twitter locked Trump’s account for 12 hours after he posted several (subsequently deleted) tweets repeating his unsubstantiated claims of election fraud and expressing support for the rioters (while also calling for an end to violence). Twitch also disabled his channel until the end of his term and Shopify pulled down stores tied to the president and his campaign. But the most notable move came from Facebook, which banned Trump from both Facebook and Instagram for “at least the next two weeks,” until the end of his term. Mark Zuckerberg wrote that this was necessary due to the “use of our platform to incite violent insurrection against a democratically elected government.” The tech giants Waymo is dropping the term ‘self-driving,’ but not everyone in the industry is on board — Alphabet-owned Waymo will no longer use the term “self-driving” to…

Rust January Update Reveals Twitch Drops for Pokimane, xQc, Shroud, and More

Facepunch Studios has released a new update for Rust, and players should be pretty happy with the results. The developer revealed that the game's January 7th update will add new Twitch drops, a Blueprint wipe, server save backups, increased server capacity, and more. Additionally, the update includes a number of fixes, changes to the game's weather patterns, and the disabling of the Christmas event. While some of these additions won't be terribly exciting for players, they should be helpful for the overall game, and make for a better experience. A full change list straight from Facepunch Studios can be found below. Fixed some clothing casting incorrect shadows Fixed respawn icons not properly merging when creating a combined respawn icon Fixed push to talk setting not being respected when talking on a phone (if this is enabled you need to hold your push to talk key to speak into a Telephone) Fixed some non English characters in player names causing display issues in the inventory Fixed being able to slide open the windows of a locked armoured cockpit module that's directly in front of a taxi module that a player is riding in Sleeping bags that are too close to another…

What The Tech: Facebook friend's list

by: Jamey Tucker Posted: Jan 7, 2021 / 05:14 PM CST / Updated: Jan 7, 2021 / 05:14 PM CST Posting something controversial on social media is risky. Whether it’s about protests, conspiracy theories, masks, religion, or college football you can alienate, offend, and anger some people you like in real life. According to MentalHelp.net, social media is a breeding ground for conversations that make you and other people angry. You can defriend or block them forever, or keep them from seeing posts you know that might offend them. Here’s how to create Facebook Friend lists and prevent any awkward conversations when you see them in person: (note much of this must be done on a computer rather than using the Facebook app) On the Facebook homepage click on the ‘see more’ tab on the left side of the screen.Scroll down and click on “Friend Lists”. Facebook has already created a couple of list for you (Close Friends, and Acquaintances”)Click “Create List” and give it a name such as “people who think like me” or “jerks”.Add people to the list you just created (this will take some time but you can add to or edit the list laterNow when you…

Shopify pulls Trump's stores off its platform

E-commerce platform Shopify has shut down President Donald Trump's online stores. The Canada-based tech company cited the chaos at the U.S. Capitol building as the reason for the ban. Shopify permanently removed President Trump's official campaign store and the Trump Organization's online store on Thursday, as first reported by the Wall Street Journal. "Shopify does not tolerate actions that incite violence," a Shopify spokesperson said in a statement. "Based on recent events, we have determined that the actions by President Donald J. Trump violate our Acceptable Use Policy, which prohibits promotion or support of organizations, platforms or people that threaten or condone violence to further a cause. As a result, we have terminated stores affiliated with President Trump."Before the stores were shuttered, the online retailers sold the campaign's signature "Make America Great Again" hats, buttons, flags, pennants, T-shirts, bobbleheads, and other "MAGA" merchandise. In less than 24 hours, Big Tech has swiftly levied suspensions and bans on the president. Facebook has "indefinitely" blocked President Trump from posting on the social network. On Thursday, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said Trump's Facebook and Instagram accounts would be locked until at least Inauguration Day on Jan. 20. "We believe the risks of allowing…
