Twitter Locks Trump's Account, Facebook and YouTube Remove Video After His Continuing Lies …

Twitter has stepped in to lock President Trump's account for 12 hours and blocked access to several tweets from Wednesday citing risks of violence, and along with Facebook and YouTube they have removed a video Trump posted from the Rose Garden Wednesday afternoon.Twitter and CEO Jack Dorsey have suggested in recent months that Trump won't have a Twitter presence after he's no longer a head of state, and today's events may have further solidified that stance. After Trump's own words incited violence and a riotous breach of the Capitol Building on Wednesday, Twitter has moved to both remove several tweets — along with the Rose Garden video in which he continued to insist the election was "stolen" — as well as at least one other tweet in which he attacked Vice President Trump, and his account has been locked for 12 hours. That means that, temporarily, he can not post any tweets, and these several tweets can't be retweeted. Still, other tweets from the last 24 hours including this one continue to be wildly amplified and retweeted — which is an argument for shutting his account down completely. As Time reports, Twitter locked the president's account early Wednesday evening in addition…

Facebook, YouTube and Twitter Remove Video of Trump Amid Chaos at Capitol

NBC News - Twitter removed three tweets from the account of President Donald Trump on Wednesday and suspended his account for 12 hours after he continued to push conspiracy theories about the election after a mob stormed the U.S. Capitol building. The company also warned that further violations of its rules “will result in permanent suspension” of the president’s Twitter account. One of the tweets contained a video of Trump repeating unfounded claims that the election was taken from him and encouraging his supporters to disperse after violence erupted at the Capitol. He said law and order was needed and added that he loved his supporters. Facebook and YouTube also removed the video from the president's accounts. The video showed Trump repeating unfounded claims that the election was taken from him and encouraging his supporters to disperse after violence erupted at the Capitol. He said law and order was needed and added that he loved his supporters. Twitter removed Trump's post after initially prohibiting it from being retweeted or replied to. It had added a tag to the post that read, "This claim of election fraud is disputed, and this Tweet can't be replied to, Retweeted, or liked due to a risk…

from the who's-being-disruptive-now dept The Mahanoy Area School District of Pennsylvania, which currently serves 11,000 residents and 1,100 students -- wants to keep wasting local and federal tax dollars defending its decision to infringe on the free speech rights of students. In 2019, the district was sued by "B.L.," a student whose f-bomb laden Snapchat message was reported to school officials. Using the vernacular of high school students, B.L. expressed her displeasure with things that often displeased students. fuck school fuck softball fuck cheer fuck everything As a result of a snitch within the cheer team's midst, B.L. was booted from the cheerleading roster and suspended by the school. But the Snapchat selfie with the f-words was taken while B.L. was off campus and after school hours. It made no difference to the school, which felt it had the right to punish B.L. for any expression regarding school activities. In support, it pointed to the "agreement" B.L. had signed when she signed up for cheerleading, forbidding the creation of any "negative information" about the school while participating in extracurricular activities. Snapchat Relaunches Partner Solutions Program to Provide More Assistance Options for Advertisers

As it looks to build on its rising momentum, Snapchat has re-launched its marketing partner program, which redefines its two partner categories to better clarify the types of assistance and guidance options available. As explained by Snapchat: "Introducing our new Global Partner Solutions program - a partnership with industry-leading companies that help advertisers connect with the Snapchat community in exciting, innovative ways. From strategic collaboration to creative execution and campaign optimization, our select group of partners make advertising on Snapchat simple for advertisers looking for managed and ad technology solutions." Originally launched back in 2016, Snap's first advertising partner program split the providers into two sections: Ads Partners and Creative Partners. With Snap's platform evolving, it's now looking to provide more specific assistance via its partner categorization tiers. You'll note that the creative element has seemingly been removed, but Snap's Creative Partners Program has now also been rolled into the broader marketing partners banner. So while 'creative' is not specifically noted in these descriptions, it's a part of the overall offering, with most of the creatives in the 'Certified Partners' list. As noted, Snapchat has been gaining momentum of late, with younger audiences, in particular, aligning with the platform and its more privacy-focused…

TikTok rolls out its first lidar-powered AR effect

Snapchat was among the first apps to leverage the iPhone 12 Pro’s LiDAR Scanner for AR, but now TikTok has followed suit. The social video app confirmed today it has launched its first-ever lidar-powered effect to help its users ring in the new year. The effect features an AR ball, similar to the one that drops in Times Square on New Year’s Eve. After a countdown, the ball drops and explodes to fill the room with confetti, as well as a floating “2021” in the air. Support for LiDAR, or light detection and ranging, was introduced on the new flagship 5G iPhone models, the iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max, in the fall. The technology helps the iPhone better understand the world around you, by measuring how long it takes for light to reach an object in the space and reflect back. Along with improvements to the iPhone’s machine learning capabilities and dev frameworks, this allows for more immersive augmented reality (AR) experiences. Snapchat, an early adopter of the technology, had first used the new LiDAR Scanner to create a Lens in its app where flowers and grasses would grow in the room around you. The Lens included virtual…
