SnapChat

Stay connected with Snapchat—a fun, real-time messaging app that lets you share moments instantly, express yourself freely, and explore content without pressure. You can use Snapchat by downloading it app on your mobile device (Android, iOS). About Snapchat Users can transmit multimedia content through Snapchat because its platform permits photo and video recording and message delivery with automatic disappearance after each view.  From a casual look, Snapchat appears as a typical messaging application, though it functions differently from others. The fundamental concept focuses on present-centered activities comprising photo capturing then adding brief drawings or written messages, followed by sending. The content disappears after viewers access it. People use Snapchat to chat with friends while playing games and sharing memories through features that vanish after observation without requiring overthought. Snapchat offers viewers an always-changing visual experience that exudes casualness. Through additional updates to the platform, users received features that transformed it into an entire applied experience beyond its initial chat foundation.  Additionally, you can view content from creators and brand items, together with playing AR effects for entertainment. Snapchat stands out because it presents an unfinished aesthetic. The application's imperfections serve as an essential feature because the platform focuses on real-time

An 11-year-old Australian girl added random people on Snapchat as part of an informal competition with her best friend to get a high score in the app. One of the people she added went on to sexually abuse her. Then 23-year-old Jai Clapp was added on Snapchat using the Quick Add feature by an 11-year-old girl given the pseudonym of “April”, as part of a competition she and her friend were having to reach a “Snap score” of 100,000 points in 2023. The Snap score is determined by how much a user is engaging on the app, and points can be gained by sending and receiving snaps, maintaining streaks (how many days users consecutively message each other), and by adding friends. After being added, Clapp told the girl he was only 17, not 23, and a court found he went on to groom her over a 12-day period on Snapchat. He then sexually abused the victim in three meetings at a local park in the town where the

The prison officers visited the cell after they had 'received information', the court heard. As they entered they saw the seated inmate brazenly scrolling a smuggled iPhone on which he 'appeared to be accessing social media', prosecutor William Donnelly told Manchester Crown Court today (Wednesday May 14, 2025). "He made an unsuccessful attempt to hide the phone in his clothing and volunteered possession of the knife," said Mr Donnelly. The prisoner revealed the six-inch weapon, fashioned with sharpened aluminium beading from his cell window for the blade wrapped with cloth to form a handle, from behind the waistband of his trousers. It was a 'fearsome weapon

CARMI, Ill. (WSIL) -- Carmi-White County CUSD #5 faced a potential threat of violence which was reported overnight through the Illinois Safe2Help tip line. The tip line, which is anonymous and confidential, notified the district of the threat against Carmi Schools. The school said the threat was made in an anonymous Snapchat post and lacked specific details. To prioritize safety, Carmi-White County CUSD #5 made the announcement of cancelling classes for Tuesday, May 13.  Law enforcement investigated the situation. The Carmi Police Department said after multiple search warrants to providers for information, they tracked the Safe2Help tip line report to a 16-year-old male. Police said the 16-year-old was intoxicated at the time he sent the report and didn't have any knowledge of an actual school threat toward the school. Police said the 16-year-old reported it to the Safe2Help tip line as a joke. Upon further investigation, police said the teen did not have any access to weapons in the home and the parents were fully cooperative in the investigation. France, in coordination with Greece, Spain and Ireland, is preparing to push for new European legislation requiring mandatory age verification for creating social media accounts, French Deputy Minister for Digital Policy Clara Chappaz said on Sunday. In an interview with Libération, Chappaz said that French President Emmanuel Macron has long supported stricter rules around digital exposure for minors, advocating for a ban on mobile phone use before the age of 11 and access to social media before the age of 15. These proposals are grounded in expert research on the impact of screen time on children’s mental and emotional development. Chappaz stressed that the current Digital Services Act (DSA) does not go far enough in protecting minors online. “We must go beyond the European institutional framework of the Digital Services Act to strengthen its solvency and oblige social media not to accept account creation without age verification,” she said. The French government is now seeking to build a coalition with like-minded EU member states, with Chappaz aiming to mobilize partners within three months.
