FBI: Pottsville man pleads guilty to selling women's nude Snapchat photos – WFMZ.com

POTTSVILLE, Pa. — A 34-year-old Pottsville man has pleaded guilty to hacking computers to obtain and sell nude photographs of women, the FBI said in a press release Wednesday.According to the press release, Brandon B. Boyer pleaded guilty to "the computer hacking offense of obtaining information from protected computers."Between 2020 and 2022, Boyer unlawfully accessed dozens of women's computers to find nude photographs he could then sell, the press release said.Boyer admitted he was able to do this by using an app that allowed him to send text messages to victims posing as a Snapchat representative. He then tricked the victims into changing their passwords and sending him the subsequent verification codes to access their accounts, according to the press release.Boyer said the cost to victims was between $40,000 and $95,000, the press release said.For his alleged actions, Boyer faces up to five years in federal prison, a term of supervised release and an unspecified fine. School districts join lawsuit against social media companies – WHEC.com

Apps like Snapchat, Instagram, and TikTok have been blamed for students’ declining mental health. Greece is one of the latest school districts to join the lawsuit. Hilton Central Schools joined just last week. Pottsville Man Pleads Guilty to Hacking Women's Snapchat Accounts

Brandon B. Boyer, a 34-year-old resident of Pottsville, Pennsylvania, pleaded guilty today to unlawfully accessing protected computers, specifically the Snapchat accounts of dozens of adult women, Your Content has learned. According to U.S. Attorney Gerard M. Karam, Boyer hacked into these accounts to obtain and sell explicit photographs between February 2020 and February 2022.
