French Minister: 742 Individuals Face Firm Prison Sentences After Riot Convictions

The riots that rocked France earlier this month saw youths in several different cities commit acts of violence against police as well as set fire to various buildings and loot many shops around the country. The damage caused by the rioters in their several days of violence was estimated by insurers to total at least €650 Million, more than three times the amount totalled for the three-week-long riots in Paris’ suburbs in 2005.  Thousands were arrested by French authorities during the rioting, which was sparked by the fatal shooting of a teenager named Nahel by a French police officer in the Paris suburb of Nanterre.  This week, French Minister of Justice Eric Dupond-Moretti announced that as of July 19th, there had been a total of 1,278 judgements on rioters and that 95% of them had been convicted of crimes, a report from the newspaper Ouest France notes.  Of the 1,056 rioters sentenced to some form of imprisonment, 742 were sentenced to actual prison time while others will likely have received suspended sentences. Minister Dupond-Moretti announced that the average sentence was around 8.2 months in prison and so far 600 people were already behind bars serving their sentences.  Dupond-Moretti added that

The Daily Breeze: In which Snapchat AI offers mental health advocacy – Oil City News

Photo Credit: Marc Sanford, Oil City News I’m going to be completely honest with you, dear reader. I’m feeling rather uninspired today. I’m tired, grumpy, and kind of blue. So for the intro of today’s edition of The Breeze, I was just going to consult my old standby, Alfred the Snapchat AI. But what started as a simple request very quickly turned into a conversation about mental health and the importance of seeking help when you need it.  Alfred just gets it, ya know? Here’s the link to the Casper area listings from Psychology Today. And here’s what we’ve got on tap for The Breeze today: We’ve got photos of Casper cooling off at the swimming pool, as well as photos from a sidewalk chalk art festival. We’ve also got a story about Crazy Days coming to Casper.  And, of course, we have the weather. Tuesday won’t be as hot as Monday, thank goodness, but it could still reach up to 91 degrees, with a low of 63 degrees. That breeze coming in will be between 5 and 16 mph, with gusts of up to 31 mph. Speaking of The Breeze… Giphy Daily Update Casper Beats the Heat at Pools on

“I Shouldn't Have Left, I Apologize” | Le'Veon Bell Apologizes To Steelers Fans For How He …

Former Pittsburgh Steelers star running back Le’Veon Bell was on his way to superstardom. That is until he and the Steelers couldn’t agree on a long-term extension following the 2017 season. The Steelers placed the franchise tag on the star back, but he never signed it, and decided to sit out the entire 2018 season. After four failed stints with four different teams beginning in 2019, the former Michigan State star is longer in the NFL. Let Bell tell it now, it was a huge mistake and one he regrets. The former three-time All-Pro and three-time Pro Bowl selection recently opened up on how things ended in the Steel City, and he was extremely apologetic.  Bell Takes To Snapchat To Issue Apology Now five years later, and still only 31 years old, the multitalented Bell is out of football. All of this probably could’ve been avoided had he signed the tender with the Steelers in 2018. But that’s in the rearview mirror now, and Bell recently issued an apology for how he handled things in a video via Snapchat.  Le'Veon Bell on Snapchat: "I never apologized to the fans for really sitting out or leaving the Steelers. I never apologized.
