US hails Ukraine's 'significant' battlefield success at Lyman The US Defence Secretary has said Ukraine's capture of Lyman from Russia in eastern Ukraine was an encouraging battlefield success that would create new dilemmas for Russia's military."Absolutely, it's significant. Snapchat users in Ireland and further afield are facing technical difficulties as the popular messaging app has been out of action since early this morning. Users have taken to social media to complain as they are unable to use any of its features such as sending pictures, videos and messages to other followers. Many are now concerned that they will lose their Streaks which track how many days in a row messages have been sent between friends. Problems appear to have begun at around 7:30am with the outage still ongoing over three hours later. Online outage site Down Detector is currently showing some 9,000 reports of Snapchat having difficulties. Snap has drastically reorganized its business to focus on reinvigorating growth. The effort has many employees working in an emergency mode, particularly around advertising. Adding older users to Snapchat is also a renewed focus, people told Insider. As Snap struggles to reverse slowing growth and improve its advertising business, parts of the company are operating with a "code red" mentality and more aggressively working to entice older users to join Snapchat.In the weeks since Snap enacted sweeping layoffs and shut down projects, it's been reorganizing around three areas of focus: the direct-response ad business, user growth, and augmented reality.Inside the company, employees are hearing little beyond "monetization," or how to make more money off of Snapchat users, and how they need to increase revenue growth by the end of the year, according to people familiar with Snap's efforts and internal messages seen by Insider.
