A man in Chicago has been charged with threatening and coercing a teenage girl into sending him sexually explicit images over Snapchat, federal prosecutors said Tuesday. Ernesto Herrera allegedly received over 1,000 images from the 16-year-old girl, including several showing child pornography, through the popular social media app. The 33-year-old was arrested in June 2021 and has been held in jail since, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Massachusetts. "Mr. Herrera allegedly used social media to target, threaten and rob a child of their innocence," U.S. Attorney Rachael Rollins said in a statement, adding that her office "will aggressively pursue those who prey on the vulnerable and helpless." The Massachusetts girl was coerced and threatened into sending images of her having sex in June 2020, prosecutors said. They didn't say how Herrera allegedly coerced the images from the girl or how they discovered the alleged behavior. It wasn't immediately clear if Herrera had an attorney who could speak to the charges he faces, coercion and enticement of a minor, sexual exploitation of children and receiving child pornography. Now is not the time to buy shares of Snap as the social media company faces ongoing headwinds to its advertising business in a weakening macro environment, Morgan Stanley says. Analyst Brian Nowak double downgraded the stock to underweight, saying in a note to clients Monday that the company faces execution risk and potential ad dollar losses in a toughening economic picture. "We don't think SNAP's ad business is as developed (and performance, "always on" driven) as we previously did...and growing this type of business through a weakening macro environment is likely to be even more challenging," Nowak wrote. A predator raped two 12-year-old girls after meeting them on Snapchat and plying them with booze and drugs. Solomon Asemota, 30, initially began by grooming the girls online. He raped one girl during a game of ‘Truth or Dare’, then raped both girls in his car on another occasion, Manchester Crown Court heard. (KFVS) - A man has been sentenced to eight years in prison for posting images and videos of guns on his Snapchat account as a convicted felon.According to Jackson County State’s Attorney Joseph Cervantez, Quantez D. McGee, 21, of Carbondale, entered a plea of guilty to a charge of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon.The charge came after the Carbondale Police Department executed a search warrant for McGee’s cellphone and Snapchat account, where they found images and videos of McGee in possession of firearms.Cervantez says McGee was a convicted felon at the time that at least one of the videos that was captured on June 21, 2021.McGee’s case investigation was conducted by the Carbondale Police Department and Assistant State’s Attorney Jayson Clark led the prosecution.“Gun violence will not be tolerated and people will be held accountable,” Cervantez said.McGee received a sentence of eight years in the Illinois Department of Corrections along with one year of Mandatory Supervised Release.Copyright 2022 KFVS. The wild growth that Snapchat and other social media companies enjoyed during the lockdown phase of the COVID pandemic is looking farther and farther in the rearview mirror.Shares of Snap Inc. are tumbling in premarket trading on Friday after the company reported disappointing financial results, missing second-quarter estimates on earnings and revenue, and showing signs of flatlining user growth in North America and Europe.Snap reported a loss per share of 2 cents, compared to a consensus estimate of 1 cent cited by CNBC. Revenue for the quarter was $1.11 billion, compared to expectations of $1.14 billion, which were already modest. Snap’s average revenue per user was flat at $3.20, far lower than its peak of $4.06 in the fourth quarter of last year.Notably, Snap also reported a net loss of $422 million, significantly worse than the $152 million it lost in the year-earlier period.Snap’s global active user base grew to 347 million, beating consensus estimates and representing growth of 18% compared to the same period last year. But much of that growth came from areas outside of North America and Europe, where Snap reported a quarter-over-quarter growth of just 1 million and 2 million users respectively, indicating that its business…
