Exclusive: Four women describe sexual misconduct by Rep. Eric Swalwell, including a … – CNN

A former staffer of Rep. Eric Swalwell, a leading Democratic candidate for California governor, says that the congressman raped her when she was heavily intoxicated and left her bruised and bleeding, an allegation Swalwell strongly denies. “I was pushing him off of me, saying no,” the woman told CNN of the incident, which she said happened in 2024 after she had stopped working in Swalwell’s office. “He didn’t stop.” She said it was the second time Swalwell had nonconsensual sexual contact with her while she was drunk. In 2019, when she was still working for him, she said she woke up naked with him in a hotel room after a night of heavy drinking. She said she had no memory of what happened but could feel physically that they’d had sexual contact. Three other women who spoke with CNN also alleged various kinds of sexual misconduct by the Democratic congressman – including Swalwell sending them unsolicited explicit messages or nude photos. One woman who connected online with Swalwell over her interest in Democratic politics says she ended up extremely drunk inside his hotel room after a night out with the congressman, with little memory of what occurred. Snap gets closer to releasing new AI glasses after years-long hiatus | TechCrunch

In Brief Posted: 5:00 AM PDT · April 10, 2026 Image Credits:Brian Heater Snap has announced a new partnership between its AR-glasses-focused subsidiary, Specs, and chipmaker Qualcomm, as the company revs up for the release of its wearable later this year. The Snapchat creator has been teasing the release of the glasses — dubbed Spectacles, or merely Specs — for a long time and, earlier this year, it spun off a new company to specifically focus on the business venture. In February, the company abruptly parted ways with Scott Myers, its SVP of Specs, over a reported “blow-up” between himself and Snap CEO Evan Spiegel. The newly announced partnership with Qualcomm shows signs of life for the project. Specs will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR platforms, which are its systems-on-a-chip designed to power augmented and virtual reality devices, a press release states. The two companies will develop “on-device AI, cutting-edge graphics, and advanced multiuser digital experiences” as part of a multi-year strategic agreement, a press release claims. “Our work with Qualcomm provides a strong foundation for the future of Specs, bringing developers and consumers advanced technology and performance that pushes the boundaries of what’s possible,” Spiegel said. The saga of Specs has

A man is wanted by police for allegedly driving a 16-year-old he met on Snapchat from her house in Ethel to his apartment in downtown Baton Rouge and then raping her. The man then allegedly kicked her out of his apartment and a food delivery driver drove her back to her house in Ethel, according to a warrant for his arrest. West Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call about a runaway juvenile on March 1 off of Hwy 955 East and learned the victim went missing at around 8:30 p.m., police say. The victim left a note that said she was leaving with Sean Patrick St. Cyr, 19, according to the arrest warrant. Several hours later, police returned to the residence when the victim had returned, but appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance, the warrant says. Police transported her to Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital for treatment, where a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner confirmed she had injuries consistent with sexual assault and tested positive for an STI, police said. According to the arrest warrant, St. Cyr drove to the victim’s house in Ethel and told the victim to get in his car

The parent night and social media safety workshop is set for Tuesday, April 14, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the program’s center, 702 E. Michigan in Stuttgart. Coordinator Jalicia Wyatt said the session will provide parents with practical tools, resources, and real-time guidance. “At this workshop, we will talk about different trends that are going on, so parents are up to date on how they can effectively address these things with their child,” Wyatt said. “We will talk about social media safety and ways to present different conversations.” Wyatt said parents should stay informed about platforms such as TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, Snapchat, and WhatsApp, as well as emerging trends, such as private and group conversations on Clubhouse-style platforms. She noted some apps make oversight more challenging. “With WhatsApp, you can have a fake number and not identify who you truly are. With Snapchat, you send messages under a different name, and they go away after a certain time frame,” Wyatt

HMRC splurges £43k on Snapchat filters while Britons endure record high tax burden

HMRC has come under fire for spending “staggering” amounts of money on Snapchat filters while Britons face down a record high tax burden. Critics have accused the taxman of spending tens of thousands of pounds from the public purse on "PR stunts" and not treating hardworking Britons' money with respect. Data obtained through a Freedom of Information request by the Taxpayers' Alliance shows that £43,029 was paid to Snapchat for the filters. Since 2024, the Government has spent more than half a million pounds on social media influencers, hiring 89 in 2024 and 126 in 2025 to appeal to a young audience on platforms like Snapchat and TikTok. Just months ago, GB News revealed fury at the Cabinet Office's plans to hire two "TikTok managers" - despite the Chinese-owned app being banned on all Parliamentary devices over security fears. Labour was panned for offering up a yearly salary of between £43,760 and £51,690 and a plum Civil Service pension with a 28.97 per cent employer contribution for the roles back in December. Confronted by its Snapchat spending, HMRC said it "carefully considers when to use public money as part of our communications efforts". But Callum McGoldrick, investigations campaign manager at
