Victoria Anne Cranmer (Photo courtesy Ocean County Jail) Subscribe to Jersey Shore Online's EBlast TOMS RIVER – A woman accused of sexually abusing a child who had been entrusted to her care now faces multiple felony charges after a friend made a discovery on a cellphone that prosecutors say exposed the alleged crimes.   Victoria Anne Cranmer, 25, of Little Egg Harbor, is being held in the Ocean County Jail without bail following her July 8 arrest. She is charged with second-degree sexual assault, second-degree manufacturing of child sexual abuse material, third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, and third-degree possession of child sexual abuse material. The charges involve one child under the age of 13, according to documents released by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.   According to the affidavit of probable cause that Jersey Shore Online obtained, the investigation began May 20 after the New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency referred the matter to the Little Egg Harbor Police Department and the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit. This is the finding of a study conducted by scholars at New York University and Northeastern University, and published by the Heat Initiative and the Cybersafety Research Center. The report analyzed eighty-six security tools on Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, and YouTube, finding an ineffectiveness rate of 50% or higher for each platform. The study was based on the creation of fake accounts to simulate the activity of children, adolescents, and adults. The researchers evaluated three operational scenarios, including a minor’s standard social media use, a teenager’s attempt to bypass blocks, and a malicious adult’s attempt to bypass the protections of a youth’s profile. The research parameters classified security tools as failures if they were difficult to find within privacy menus, did not comply with the features described to consumers, or were completely absent from the systems. The data collected indicates that adult Snapchat accounts were able to search for and send direct messages to minors’ profiles without encountering any restrictions. At the same time, TikTok has documented how algorithmic systems proactively suggested anorexia-related search terms to accounts registered as belonging to teenagers. Elkhart County Jail: Chirstopher S. Nicholson ELKHART, Ind. -- A 21-year-old Elkhart man is in jail facing several felony charges related to child pornography following an investigation by the Elkhart Police Department. EPD reports an officer with the Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received a tip on June 1 of possible child sex abuse material connected with IP addresses in this area. The investigation led to a search warrant being applied for and obtained for the electronic devices at an apartment in the 300 block of Bank Street in Elkhart. On July 3, police executed the search warrant. Police arrested Chirstopher S. Nicholson at the residence. Nicholson is facing preliminary charges, including two counts of Child Exploitation, as Level 4 Felonies, one count of Child Exploitation, a Level 5 Felony, and two counts of Possession of Child Pornography, as Level 5 Felonies. Court documents reveal Nicholson's alleged Snapchat account received at least three graphic videos of child sex abuse material. Nicholson's bond was set at $250,000.

67-year-old Luis Esteban Borunda from Essex, Maryland, pled guilty in court to child sex abuse crimes. The charges are sexual exploitation of a child, coercion and enticement of a minor, and distribution and possession of child sexual abuse material (CSAM). According to his guilty plea, Brounda engaged in sexual acts, which he also recorded with a 15-year-old. Officials say he started communicating with the minor around July 2023 via Snapchat and text. He then met the minor on a trip to California. During the trip, he engaged in sex acts with a 15-year-old and used his cell phone to record these acts. In August 2023, Borunda messaged a law enforcement officer who was posing as a female minor. He went on to communicate with the officer until August 30th, 2023, when he was arrested by law enforcement when he showed up to meet who he thought was an underage female for sex, per officials. Law enforcement also found that Borunda owned devices on which he stored child sexual abuse material. Borunda faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years and a maximum sentence of 30 years in federal prison for sexual exploitation of a minor.
