Snapchat is introducing a new ASL alphabet learning lens called “Sign With Snap.” The lens will teach you how to “fingerspell your name, practice the ASL Alphabet, and play games that put new skills to the test”.  Snap’s aim is to help users feel closer to one another through shared communication. This feature is led by a group of deaf and hard-of-hearing team members at Snap called the ‘Deafengers.’ The social media giant is partnering with SignAll to use technology to capture users’ fingerspelling. The lens was built using the hand-tracking technology behind last year’s randomizer fingerspelling lenses. STAMFORD — A 31-year-old Norwalk man allegedly had “sexually explicit” conversations with an 11-year-old Stamford girl on a secret phone that he gave her, according to an arrest warrant.Alexis Gaitan Garcia, 31, was arrested on charges of enticing a minor and risk of injury to a minor for what police describe in warrants as an inappropriate relationship with the child. Stamford Police Officer Brian Donahue writes in the arrest warrant that police received reports about Gaitan Garcia from a concerned person on Oct. 15. The person told investigators that she had recently discovered a cellphone hidden beneath a dresser in the 11-year-old’s bedroom, Donahue wrote. On the phone, police found a Snapchat account that detailed numerous “sexually explicit” conversations with an account later traced back to Gaitan Garcia, according to the warrant. Over the course of several Snapchat conversations, the user of the account solicited nude photos and videos of the girl, Donahue writes in the warrant. A Prior Lake man has received a 28-year sentence for his role in the killing of a 16-year-old boy during a drug deal outside a Target store in Savage more than two years ago. Braylen J. Miller, 19, was sentenced Tuesday in Scott County District Court after pleading guilty in connection with the death of Samuel A. Keezer of Burnsville, who was shot in the store parking lot on Hwy. 13 and died two days later at HCMC. With credit for time spent in jail since his arrest more than two years ago, Miller is expected to serve roughly 17 years and four months of his sentence in prison and the balance on supervised release. Prosecutors said Keezer was shot by Miller's father, Taran C. Miller, 44, of Prior Lake. Miller died in December 2020 while being in pandemic-related quarantine in the Scott County jail, where he was being held on a first-degree murder charge. Braylen Miller's mother, 45-year-old TanyaMarie Miller, pleaded guilty with aiding an offender after the fact and in November 2020 was given a four-year sentence. LITTLE ROCK — Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge and a coalition of 44 attorneys general urged TikTok and Snapchat to give parents the ability to monitor their children’s social media usage and protect their children from online threats through parental control apps. The apps would empower parents to ensure that social media platforms are a safe space for children. “Parents must be able to control who their children talk to and especially what they see,” said Attorney General Rutledge. “As the mother of a young daughter, I make sure that I am aware of the dangers on the internet, and I realize the importance for parents to have the ability to protect their children from those who want to do them harm online.” Research increasingly demonstrates the negative impact that social media can have on the physical, emotional, and mental well-being of children and teenagers. An evil Scots murderer killed a teenage boy and circulated a sick video of the crime. Twisted Kevin Murray turned on his victim, Kirk Allan, aged 19, at the thug's flat in Helensburgh, Argyll and Bute in the early hours of July 25 2020. Murray, aged 34, struck the younger man with a meat cleaver, choked him, bound and blind-folded the victim as well as zapping him in the face with pepper spray. Murray then recorded a chilling 45-second selfie-clip before forwarding it to shocked friends via Snapchat. As the camera captured a stricken Kirk dying in the background, the killer boomed: "This is what happens when you are f***ing being cheeky to me. "Throw the first punch...and you are dead. TikTok’s Chinese parent company ByteDance made fake accounts using content it scraped from Instagram and Snapchat, according to former employees, who described the project as one of several “growth hacks” implemented by the company. In 2017, ByteDance scraped videos, usernames, profile pictures, and profile descriptions from Instagram, Snapchat, and other sources, then uploaded them — without users’ knowledge or consent — to Flipagram, a TikTok predecessor, according to four former employees and documents obtained by BuzzFeed News.
