Man forced to register as sex offender for having consensual gay sex – PinkNews

Stock photo. (Envato) A South Carolina man who has been forced to register as a sex offender for having consensual gay sex has launched a legal challenge against the state. The man, identified as “John Doe”, was convicted under South Carolina’s anti-sodomy or “buggery” law in 2001, according to the Post and Courier. The Lawrence v Texas Supreme Court ruling in 2003 invalidated all remaining sodomy laws across the US, but many states, including South Carolina, still have the defunct laws on their books.  Doe was pardoned for his “crime” in 2006 but is still required to register as a sex offender, according to a lawsuit which names state attorney general Alan Wilson and chief of South Carolina law enforcement Mark Keel as defendants. The lawsuit states: “He suffers severely under the sex offender label, which involves the state in the daily management of his life.” It explains that Doe must report twice a year in person to register as a sex offender, providing a “encyclopedic” amount of personal information before being listed on a publicly available database, and failure to register can result in fines and prison time. “As a result of defendants’ unlawful conduct, Doe is suffering harm, including embarrassment, humiliation,…

An all-inclusive, no-exceptions guide to social media posting – The Diamondback

With the holidays and the current heightened threat of the COVID-19 pandemic we’re in, social media use is at an all time high for some. In light of my last column on social media’s impact on Gen Z, I’ve decided to put together a guide of what to post, and where, in the event that you, yourself, utilize social media. Consider this my gift to you.  Twitter This is where you post exciting news you haven’t had time to tell your parents yet. Feel free to DM your friends five posts in a row, and of course, voice your opinions on the latest memes gripping society. Post all your “hot” sports takes in a single thread, so people like me don’t have to read any more than they have to. If you start to feel an overwhelming sense of insufficiency or frustration with other people’s half thought out responses, my God, log off. As much as you’d probably love to roast that reply guy, fueling the fire only makes him stronger. Avoid political discourse if you want to make it out alive. Snapchat Story This is where you post the most filtered version of your life you can conjure. Personally,…

“They are the ones who issue the decrees to prevent epidemics.” – Nintendo-Power

Vincenzo de Luca It does not plan to issue new laws to control the chain of infection. He believes he has done as much as possible in terms of his privileges, and the governor of Campania will ask individual mayors to issue specific orders to keep the situation under control. As has happened since the onset of the epidemic, goiter infections often spread in plains, with some areas being more affected than others. A specific commitment will be required from the first citizens, as has been demanded for some time by the Regional Crisis Unit to work in conjunction with the managers of individual cities. There have not been so many cases in Campania since the outbreak began. Yesterday marked the second consecutive negative record, with nearly 10,000 positive in 24 hours. The incidence rate has risen to 8.8%, the highest level ever reached in the region. “We are the norm: de Luca preaches well and scratches badly. He complains about the shortage of health workers, but is utterly indifferent to the basic service 118, which is in dramatic use,” said Severino Nappy, the council’s regional councilor in Campania. “I have been reporting this serious problem for some time, and…

By Mansoor TanweerThu., Dec. 30, 2021timer1 min. readupdateArticle was updated 1 hr agoCybertip.ca is reporting an “alarming trend” of teens reporting that their Snapchat accounts are getting hacked.Since August of 2021, Cybertip.ca and the Canadian Centre for Child Protection both received a combined 27 reports of exploitation attempts related to Snapchat. The offender will often use tactics like stalking the teen until they comply with exploiters demands, using threats of sharing intimate photos to extort money, or they may even provide a link to the teen to help “recover” their email and password and then take over their account.“Sextortion is a crime with no boundaries,” said Ryan Anderson of the Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS)“Often sextortion starts with seemingly normal online conversations. The chats are then moved to more private platforms where they turn personal and sexual.” Anderson goes onto say that “attention bombing,” or manipulation through providing emotional warmth, can be used to make the victim feel special.“They may demand more videos or to transfer them money. Often they will pretend to be a teen girl or boy to build trust and a connection,” Anderson added. In a recently published social media video, HRPS says to not send any photos for money…

Social Media, Fentanyl a 'Deadly' Combination, Researchers Warn | The Crime Report

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) confiscated millions of counterfeit fentanyl pills and over 28,000 pounds of methamphetamine as of 2020 — an amount large enough to kill every American—according to the most recent data.. But keeping track of the transportation and distribution of fentanyl-laced pills has become more complicated, because drug traffickers are using social media to sell the pills, according to an Addiction Center study. This presents an unprecedented problem, as roughly 85 percent of Americans have smartphones, many of them young people who are emerging as a major market for the pills, reports The Guardian in an analysis of the study. “In California, where fentanyl deaths were rare just five years ago, a young person under 24 is now dying every 12 hours, according to a Guardian analysis of state data through June 2021,” said The Guardian. “That’s a 1,000 percent increase over 2018.” In previous years, advocates were concerned about fentanyl-laced heroin or other street drugs, but with the popularity of social media, drug dealers are lacing commonly sought after prescriptions like OxyCotin, Xanax, and Adderall with the deadly drug — or replacing the prescriptions altogether with Fentanyl pills shaped and colored identically to the sought…
