A Snapchat video circulated among students, the sheriff's office said. LAKELAND, Fla. — A 20-year-old substitute teacher faces multiple sex crimes charges on accusations she sexually battered a student. Ayanna Davis is charged with sexual battery and offenses against students by an authority figure, according to a Polk County Sheriff's Office news release. She is being held on a $60,000 bond, with arraignment scheduled for Jan. 10. Deputies say a Lakeland High School student notified school resource officers on Dec. 3 about a Snapchat video showing Davis and another student having sex. At some point, it allegedly was shown to a group of football players. The encounters between the substitute teacher and student happened four times, according to the sheriff's office. "This is a clear violation of sexual battery laws," Sheriff Grady Judd said in a statement. "She was in a position of influence over the victim, and she took advantage of that for her own twisted pleasure." The sheriff's office noted Davis is not a Polk County Public Schools employee, rather, she worked at the school through Kelly Educational Staffing, the news release states. John Hagins, 19, was arrested Thursday outside his apartment in Daytona Beach on charges of written threats to injure or kill, terrorism and attempted first-degree homicide, according to Daytona Beach police. Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University) Police say he is from North Miami Beach. His Facebook page says he graduated in 2020 from Monsignor Edward Pace High School, a Catholic school near Miami Opa-locka Executive Airport. According to The Hill via Yahoo News, Florida police arrested the student who allegedly planned the school shooting after two other students of the university reported the concerning messages he made on the popular social media apps. Police in Florida arrested a student attending Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University for allegedly "plotting to shoot up the campus" on Thursday, which was the final day before winter break, officials said.John Hagins, 19, threatened an attack similar to the 1999 mass shooting at the Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado, that left 13 dead, according to Chief Jakari Young of Daytona Beach Police Department. In the first incident on Tuesday morning, School Resource Officers (SRO) received a Snapchat screenshot that mentioned East and warned people not to be at school. Because BCSC takes every situation seriously, the origin of the message was investigated and additional SROs were stationed at the school. While investigating, it was noted that the text over the top of the screenshot did say “East” but did not specify Columbus East High School. Officials said, “It doesn’t appear to be from a BCSC student or staff member, and the teacher mentioned is not from BCSC. It’s common to see these kinds of messages on Snapchat that use a directional name, such as East, but don’t give context for the school mentioned, thus creating confusion.” It was soon confirmed that the East mentioned is in a neighboring state.
