A Perrysburg man has pleaded guilty to sharing sexually-explicit pictures involving a minor.Benjamin Hunsaker, 22, formerly of Toledo, was indicted in June for three counts pandering sexually-oriented matter involving a minor or impaired person, all second-degree felonies; and possessing criminal tools, a fifth-degree felony.Hunsaker appeared Tuesday in the courtroom of Wood County Common Pleas Judge Matt Reger. He accepted an offer to plead guilty to two counts attempted pandering sexually-oriented matter involving a minor or impaired person, both third-degree felonies, and the possession charge.He was accused in August 2020 of creating, photographing or reproducing material that shows a minor participating or engaging in sexual activity.Hunsaker reportedly used a cell phone in the commission of these felonies. He must forfeit the phone.Reger said he could impose up to 36 months in prison for each amended charge and a maximum of 12 months for the remaining charge.The court could impose these sentences consecutively if it finds all statutory requirements are met, Reger said. That would total seven years. Wood County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Brian Boos declined to offer a sentencing recommendation.Hunsaker also must register as a Tier II sex offender, meaning he has to register every 180 days for 25 years.If sent…

Nearly a year ago, TikTok unveiled its Black creatives program, a three-month incubator in partnership with Charles D. King’s Macro media company, to support an inaugural class of 100 creators and propel their careers forward. Since then, creators have attended town halls and meetings with TikTok and entertainment industry execs and received training on topics like how to turn their platforms into brands. In November, TikTok and Macro said they were awarding 10 Black creators $50,000 grants each to pursue a larger project and help cover the costs of equipment, staffing and other resources. December 16, 2021 TikTok has surpassed Snapchat and Twitter in global user numbers, according to the inaugural forecast on TikTok users worldwide by Insider Intelligence (formerly eMarketer).  The social networking app surpassed those competitors in 2020 and grew even larger in 2021, cementing itself as the  No. 3 worldwide social platform behind Facebook and Instagram. There will be 755 million monthly TikTok users in 2022, forecasts Insider Intelligence.  This number grew 59.8 per cent in 2020 and will increase an additional 40.8 per cent in 2021. While that growth will slow, it will remain high at 15.1 per cent in 2022. TikTok is also gaining share of overall social network users. In 2022, its share is predicted to surpass 20 per cent for the first time and approach one-quarter by 2024. “The rise of TikTok is especially challenging for Snapchat, with which it competes head-to-head for the youth audience,” said Debra Aho Williamson, Insider Intelligence principal analyst. “Although TikTok does not share much similarity to Twitter, its massive size relative to the more-established platform is a clear reflection of the addictive nature of TikTok’s content.” Next year, 3.57 billion people will use a social network at least once a month,…

This year, Snap finally caught user-generated content fever: In 2021, the company has paid out more than $250 million to more than 12,000 creators through its Snapchat Spotlight programs. Of course, Snap’s total payout is tiny compared with YouTube, the 800-pound gorilla in the digital creator economy: According to YouTube, over the three-year period from 2018-20, it paid more than $30 billion to creators, artists and media companies. And Snap actually dialed back its payouts for Spotlight. When it first launched the TikTok-style video feature in November 2020, the company said it would shell out upwards of $1 million per day in total among Spotlight contributors with top-performing videos. If it had kept up that pace, Snap would have paid, well, $365 million or more to creators in 2021. According to Snap CEO Evan Spiegel, the company reduced overall Spotlight payments to discourage people from creating viral, one-off copycat videos. Published December 13, 2021 11:11AM article LAKELAND, Fla. - Deputies in Polk County say a Snapchat video eventually led them to arrest a Lakeland High School substitute teacher for having a sexual relationship with a student. According to the sheriff’s office, an LHS student approached Lakeland police earlier this month about a Snapchat video showing 20-year-old Ayanna Davis having sex with a student. The video had supposedly been shown to a large group of LHS football players. For jurisdictional reasons, LPD turned the investigation over to the sheriff’s office. When their detectives interviewed Davis, she allegedly admitted that she’d had sex with the student on four occasions – twice at his house, and twice at her house.  The boy was under 17, according to deputies. Detectives say his account matched what Davis told them. Davis is now charged with several counts of sexual battery. She was being held Monday on $60,000 bond. "This is a clear violation of sexual battery laws. She was in a position of influence over the victim, and she took advantage of that for her own twisted pleasure," Sheriff Grady Judd said in a release about the arrest.
