Rovin Mavunga, aged 24, of Doncaster, was sentenced at Sheffield Crown Court on Wednesday. The illegal lender paid a Snapchat influencer to advertise his services online and even used social media to threaten his victims when they could not afford to make repayments, a court heard today. Simon Mortimer, prosecuting, said Mavunga offered short-term, high-interest loans to 130 borrowers through Snapchat over a 22-month period in a “organised, sophisticated and profitable illegal business”. Mavunga charged interest rates of just under 100% on loans and pocketed £140,000 in repayments from his debtors. For the first time since his May departure from the show, Caleb Kennedy is opening up about his "American Idol" experience.The 16-year-old country singer began his "Idol" journey in October 2020 and eventually made it to the Top 5 before abruptly leaving the show after a controversial social media post resurfaced online. In a Snapchat post, Kennedy appeared beside someone wearing what seems to be a Ku Klux Klan hood. “Now that I’m home, I try to be me, but I’m also scared of someone videoing me when I go to Academy or Walmart. Teachers must assume sexual harassment, online sexual abuse and sexual violence are occurring in and around their schools and colleges even when there are no specific reports, Ofsted has said.Education institutions must now have a “whole school” approach in place to address sexual harm, following a recent review that found harassment has become normalised among students.An Ofsted report published earlier this month found children often do not see the point of reporting sexual harassment because it happens so frequently.The watchdog visited 32 state and private schools and colleges and spoke to more than 900 young people about sexual harassment after thousands of testimonials were posted on a website.Ofsted inspectors were told that boys are sharing “nudes” among themselves like a “collection game” on platforms such as WhatsApp and Snapchat while some girls have experienced “unwanted touching in school corridors”.Future Ofsted inspections will now look at how schools and colleges tackle all forms of sexual abuse and harassment, the regulator said.We will expect schools and colleges to have created a culture where sexual abuse and harassment is not acceptable and never toleratedIt has updated its inspection handbooks to help schools and colleges develop a culture that recognises and addresses sexual harm,…

West Midlands Police said around 240 plants were seized during the raid on the High Street-based premises in Wall Heath on Friday, June 24. A 40-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of cannabis cultivation and released under investigation. In this case, Brandi Levy of Pennsylvania had already graduated and moved on to college before the ruling was delivered. Levy was just 14 when she expressed dismay at not making the varsity cheerleading squad by posting an expletive-filled Snapchat rant and a photo of her raised middle finger. The administration punished her by taking away a year’s eligibility to cheer. A charm-school graduate, Levy isn’t. Nevertheless, it isn’t necessary to agree with a particular sentiment or its means of expression to defend somebody’s right to express it. Indeed, the Supreme Court’s decision upheld an earlier finding for Levy, even as it narrowed the rationale of the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. While the lower court’s contention is that school administrators have no authority to punish students for statements made off campus, the Supreme…
