There’s a new dating app on the scene called Feels. Its unique selling point is an interface that feels closer to a Snapchat-style story or a TikTok feed rather than the swipeable cards found in other dating apps. TechCrunch reports Feels currently has around 100,000 users. Although the app is available globally, the company says its focus is primarily on the French market as it launches more widely. ABINGDON, Va. – A North Carolina man, who used the popular social media messaging app Snapchat to solicit minors to send him sexually explicit photographs and videos in exchange for expensive gifts, pleaded guilty today in U.S. District Court in Abingdon, Acting United States Attorney Daniel P. Bubar, Stanley M. Meador, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Richmond Division, and Grayson County Sheriff Richard Vaughan announced today. Jason Kelly Inman, 40, of Mount Airy, N.C., waived his right to be indicted and pleaded guilty today to a one-count Information charging him with persuading, enticing, and coercing and attempting to persuade, entice, and coerce minors to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing visual depictions of such conduct. At sentencing, Inman faces a term of imprisonment of 15 to 17-and-one-half years, and a mandatory minimum term of supervised release of five years.  A sentencing hearing has been scheduled for July 21, 2021 at 2:30 p.m.   “This defendant used the internet to prey on vulnerable victims, promising them expensive gifts and cash in order to facilitate this egregious behavior,” United States Attorney Bubar said today. “An unfortunate side effect of living our lives increasingly online is the…

Snapchat is collaborating with the Los Angeles County Museum of Art to bring five augmented reality monuments to Los Angeles.In celebration of the International Day for Monuments and Sites later this week, Snapchat is sharing news of the first projects that will be part of a multi-year LACMA x Snapchat initiative – Monumental Perspectives – which was announced in December.As explained by the recent announcement, Monumental Perspectives brings together artists and Snap Lens Creators to create “five new augmented reality monuments that explore history and representation for communities across Los Angeles.” The experiences have been designed for locations around the city and can be viewed through the Snapchat Camera.These locations include LACMA, MacArthur Park, Earvin “Magic” Johnson Park, and Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Leonard C Boyle, Acting United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, and David Sundberg, Special Agent in Charge of the New Haven Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, announced that HECTOR TORRES, 32, of Monroe, was arrested today on a federal criminal complaint charging him with child exploitation offenses related to his alleged sexual abuse of three minor girls. Following his arrest, Torres appeared via videoconference before U.S. Magistrate Judge S. Dave Vatti and is detained. As alleged in the criminal complaint, Torres used Snapchat, FaceTime and text messaging to communicate with three minor girls, ages 11 and 12, to persuade, induce, entice or coerce them to send him naked pictures of themselves and to engage in sexual activity with him. On multiple occasions in February 2021, Torres picked up the girls in his car and brought them to a shopping plaza parking lot in Hartford, where they each engaged in sexual activity with Torres at his direction.  Torres promised to give the girls money, sneakers, vaping supplies and/or food if they sent him photos of their bodies and/or engaged in sex acts with him.  In March 2021, investigators reviewed at least three videos of Torres’s sexual abuse…
