Drug-laced sweets bought on TikTok and sold in schools see cannabis poisonings triple

The number of children treated for cannabis poisoning has almost tripled as the craze for drug-laced sweets grips schools. Dealers sell them on social media sites popular with kids like TikTok. Hundreds of youngsters are being rushed to A&E every year with heart palpitations, anxiety attacks, paranoia and hallucinations. Eating drugged sweets, dubbed “edibles”, means the effects are slower than with smoking but last for hours. One 12-year-old tried a Nerds sweet she knew was drugged but had no idea how powerful it would be until the “high” kicked in hours later. She said: “I was completely freaking out, my stomach flipped, my head was spinning. I couldn’t stop crying.
