Burrell accused of sending photos, videos to 14-year-old girl HOLLIDAYSBURG — A Stony Point man taken into custody for allegedly sending sexually explicit photos and videos to a juvenile female over Snapchat in May is heading for a jury trial. Jonathan Robert Burrell, 27, is facing two felony counts each of disseminating explicit sexual material to a minor and unlawful contact with a minor and single felony counts of statutory sexual assault and sexual abuse of children. He remains in custody at the Blair County Prison in lieu of $100,000 bail. Burrell’s case was placed on the court’s schedule for jury selection for Oct. 20 at the request of his defense attorney John F. Siford. Charges were brought against Burrell after Altoona police began a monthslong investigation on Jan. 8, 2025, when a 14-year-old victim and her guardian reported Burrell for sending the victim photos of his genitalia over Snapchat. In reviewing the victim’s phone, officers found that Burrell had sent the victim about five photos of his genitalia, as well as two sexually explicit videos of himself, according to the affidavit of probable cause. The 22-year-old posed as a boy called Josh to target his victims, raping one 12-year-old and targeting hundreds of others. Stuart sometimes offered £200 for “nude” images and persuading others to send indecent images and videos before threatening to reveal them online if his victims did not do as he wished, Preston Crown Court heard. Unemployed Latham physically abused two youngsters and committed dozens of offences online against the other 37, the court heard – all aged between 12 and 15, who lived across the UK. Latham treated his activities as a job, spending day after day online at the home he shared with his parents in Wigan, detectives said. The defendant, who made no reaction as he was jailed, amassed around 4,000 indecent images, many from blackmailing his victims. A grand jury has indicted a former Boston police sergeant on charges he raped a 14-year-old boy he met on a dating app, prosecutors said Friday. Paul Downey, a 57-year-old from West Roxbury, was previously charged in Boston Municipal Court, and a not guilty plea was entered on his behalf. The grand jury's indictment elevates the case to Suffolk Superior Court, where he's due next Friday to face the new counts of aggravated rape of a minor, sexual conduct with a child under 18 and electronic enticement of a child for sexual activity. Grand juries review prosecutors' allegations and decide whether or not the evidence is sufficient to bring charges. Snapchatters created over a trillion selfies in the app in just one year. For context, Apple recently reported that  iPhone users took over 500 billion selfies last year. So Snapchat users took more than 2x the amount of selfies that all iPhone users did. And this is not a commentary on “Only Fans” or other similar websites. A Rockland County teenager now faces felony charges in what’s being described as a “sextortion” plot. Cops in Stony Point arrested a student who attended classes at Fieldstone Middle School — following a six-month investigation. Apparently a number of students also came forward with allegations. The claim is the teen contacted victims online and pretended to be a woman — then solicited private, sexually-explicit photos. Upon receipt of those photos, the teen would allegedly demand payment in the form of gift cards — or threaten to expose the explicit snaps.
