A former Wiltshire Police officer who sent sexual messages to a girl on Snapchat has been banned from the force. After his conviction, Barry Geering, 44, now of Ealing, London, had an allegation of Gross Misconduct upheld at an accelerated misconduct hearing yesterday. The hearing, which took place on Tuesday, July 22 and was chaired by Assistant Chief Constable Deb Smith, who found that he had breached standards of professional behaviour, namely honesty, integrity and discreditable conduct. Geering attempted sexual communication with a child under 16 by using Snapchat. He was identified and arrested in April 2024 as part of a proactive operation by a team at South West Regional Organised Crime Unit (SWROCU), who work alongside a national network of officers tackling offences online, including child sexual abuse and exploitation.    He was originally based in Swindon.  The 44-year-old pleaded guilty to the offence at Bristol Magistrates' Court on May 13. Geering was immediately suspended from duty and resigned from the force two months later. NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Tennessee Bureau of Investigation agents have filed juvenile petitions against two Giles County teens accused of posting a compromising photo of a classmate on social media. The investigation began in November when the 22nd Judicial District Attorney General Brent Cooper requested TBI assistance regarding a photo of a Giles County teen that appeared on Snapchat. Investigators determined two classmates of the victim posted the image after receiving it from another student. One of the teens also sent a direct message to the victim threatening harm. "During the investigation, agents determined two classmates of the victim posted the image, after having received the image from another classmate," TBI said. On Monday, agents secured juvenile petitions charging one teen with illegal use of a telecommunications device, unlawful photography-dissemination, and harassment. The second teen faces charges of illegal use of a telecommunications device and unlawful photography-dissemination. The charges and allegations are merely accusations of criminal conduct, not evidence. The defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and convicted through due process of law. PULASKI, Tenn. (WSMV) - The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is investigating an incident involving a compromising photo of a Tennessee student being posted online. KNOX, Ind. -- A 21-year-old Knox man was arrested earlier this months after he allegedly trapped a Snapchat date in his vehicle before speeding off and refusing to let her out, causing the victim to jump from the moving car.  Authorities say the call came in around 1:37 a.m. on July 18 in reference to a female who had jumped from a moving vehicle.   The victim told a Valparaiso police officer that she had only know 21-year-old Damion M. Stewart, of Know, for two days and that the two had been communicating via Snapchat.  That night was the first night the two had ever met in person. " advised that she was contacted by Stewart through Snapchat and told her he was intoxicated. stated she met with Stewart just outside of the leasing building at 1405 Laporte Ave (Uptown East apartments) and entered the passenger seat to provided him with a bottle of water," the arrest report states.  The victim told police she kept the front passenger door slightly open, but when she got in, Stewart sped off and the front passenger door closed shut. An Indiana mother is behind bars after allegedly attempting to arrange a disturbing transaction involving her seven-month-old daughter. Authorities say 32-year-old Morgan Stapp offered her infant to a man she met on Snapchat in exchange for $400. According to a probable cause affidavit reviewed by PEOPLE, Stapp allegedly messaged the man saying, “U can f**k her for $400. Half now, rest after. I’ll send my address I do live alone, and her dad is not in the picture.” The conversation, which reportedly took place in November 2024, was flagged and led to an FBI investigation. When questioned by federal agents, Stapp claimed her Snapchat account had been “recently compromised” and said she had since bought a new phone. However, the affidavit says she later admitted to a child services caseworker that her initial claim wasn’t true. Investigators discovered more than 7,000 messages between October 29th and November 1st, including 81 that offered explicit photos of her daughters “to pay for diapers.” During a recent court appearance, Stapp described herself as a stay-at-home mom who receives government assistance and occasional help from her parents.
