Virginia’s Republican nominee for lieutenant governor is accusing Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s political advisors of extortion and says they’re trying to force him to end his campaign. John Reid is the first openly gay man to run on the Republican statewide ticket. In two videos he posted online, he went public with details of what he called Youngkin’s efforts to get him to leave the race. Many Republicans continue to support Reid. Reid suddenly became the nominee for lieutenant governor a week ago, when the favorite and only other candidate, Fairfax County Supervisor Pat Herrity, stepped aside for health reasons. Reid said before that, religious activists threatened him with what they described as sexually explicit photos. Then, he says he got a call from Youngkin. Reid said he has no intention of dropping out. “I’m tougher than any of my detractors, and I’m not going anywhere,” he said in the defiant conclusion to a video he posted online Sunday. The former Richmond radio talk show host, who has been with his partner for eight years, went public on Friday. He said religious activists threatened to release lewd photos they claimed he had posted on a Tumblr account. Reid says the photos

Courtesy Photo BeatStars has partnered with Sureel, an AI music detection and attribution company, to provide its creators with the ability to express their desire to “opt out” of their works being used in AI training. To date, AI music companies in the United States are not required to honor opt-outs, but through this partnership, Sureel and Beatstars, the world’s largest music marketplace, hope to create clarity for AI music companies that are wishing to avoid legal and reputational risks and create a digital ledger to keep track of beatmakers’ wishes regarding AI training. Here’s how it works: Beatstars will send formal opt-out notices for every music asset and artist on its platform, and all of the creators’ choices will be documented on a portal that any AI company can access. By default, all tracks will be marked as shielded from AI training unless permission is granted. Companies can also access creators’ wishes using Sureel’s API. It will also automatically communicate the creators’ desires via a robots.txt file, which is a way to block AI

Macasaet, a 25-year-old multidisciplinary artist, is launching Poison Candy Apple, a brand-turned-universe she’s been quietly constructing for the last two years. It just launched via Heaven by Marc Jacobs. If you know her, you probably know her from Story of My Fucking Life—the surreal, self-shot web series she created during lockdown—or from Tattoo Book, the art-tattoo collection featuring contributions from Harmony Korine and Ed Templeton. Maybe you’ve seen her offbeat lo-fi surreal video work for Pretty Sick, or her photography for brands like Stussy and Marc Jacobs. She’s been building this world—style, mood, and attitude—since her teens. Poison Candy Apple isn’t a pivot. It’s a culmination.“It’s something I’d been dreaming about for years,” Macasaet says. “I’d been working across so many creative projects—videos, shoots, directing, consulting—and I realized I wanted a home for all of it.”

Effervescent, refreshing, and delightfully pink, this seasonal favorite effortlessly elevates any gathering – from garden brunches and rooftop soirées to beach picnics and sunset celebrations. Once just fad wines, rosé sparklers are not only here to stay, but booming, with increasing sales over the past four years. They make excellent mates for the fresh fare of spring, as well as wines to toast the many celebrations of the season, like Mother’s & Father’s Day and graduations & weddings. Like non-bubbly rosé, these are first made as “still” wines, with the tint provided by the skins of red grapes included in the blend and then the bubbles are induced by a second fermentation. As a boon to local consumers, many of the best are available locally at prices that won’t dent the pocketbook. However, there are some flavorless clunkers out there, so as a guide to shoppers–from a series of tastings – I recommend the following, many of which are available at your local wine stores. n.v. But have you ever really listened to some of their not-so-pleasant themes? Chappaqua resident and veteran early childhood music educator Pam Gittleman has just released Nursery Rhymes for Kinder Times®, Volume 2, her second volume of updated rhymes perfect for the children in your life. This new collection under the For Kinder Times® brand features nine updated nursery rhymes with storylines promoting kindness, empathy and gratitude. If you’re familiar with the classic rhymes, many of them have dark themes and acts of violence. Kinder Times® rhymes show acts of compassion and help kids (and parents) recognize different emotions and how to regulate them in a fun and whimsical way. Part of the reason Gittleman wrote the books was to help preserve this genre for a new generation. “As an early childhood music educator, I loved reading/singing traditional nursery rhymes. I loved that they had an inherent musicality, supported imagination and language and were memorable. It concerned me that an important genre for supporting language development and musicality
