Why the Durand Line Matters: Towards an AfPak De-Escalation? – SpecialEurasia

Executive Summary On 7 March 2026, the Taliban Defence Minister, during a Pashto-language engagement with ToloNews, identified theDurand Lineas a primary friction point in Afghan-Pakistani relations. The Minister acknowledged a formal Pakistani proposal for the definitive recognition of the Line as an international border. Given the protracted territorial dispute and escalating frontier skirmishes, this report evaluates whether a diplomatic resolution would mitigate regional volatility or inadvertently catalyse local insurgencies by further fragmenting the Pashtun ethnic core. Key Points The Durand Line remains one of South Asia’s most enduring territorial disputes; its legal ambiguity serves as a significant strategic lever for Kabul against Islamabad. The creation of an official border between Pakistan and Afghanistan may successfully represent a milestone in a de-escalation policy for both countries. Pashtun populations risk another fragmentation of their tribal customs and the end of their ‘Pashtunistan’ nationalist project. Background Information On 7 March 2026,Mawlawi Mohammad Yaqoob, the Minister of Defence of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, accentuated how the Durand Line still represents a major element of tension between Afghanistan and Pakistan. He further emphasised Pakistan’s worries about this matter and admitted that Islamabad had proposed to officially recognise the Durand Line as the international boundary

How These Tumblr-Core Aesthetics Create a Bookish Fantasy for Gen Z – GQ

The ivy-covered walls of elite schools and universities have long been a subject of intrigue, evoking curiosity about what happens within these institutions. The insular nature of academia has left many wondering: What do the students know that I don’t? This mystique, fueled by popular media from the juggernaut that is Harry Potter to the 1989 cult classic Dead Poets Society, feeds into the “dark academia” and “light academia” styles that have come to permeate the internet in recent years. On TikTok, you might find men sporting wool trousers, dark overcoats, and toting around leather-bound books, looking as if they were running to a lecture. While most microtrends tend to come and go in the TikTok era (a time of hyper-niche “cores” and “aesthetics”), academia has served as a constant source of style inspiration for millennials and Gen Z since the Tumblr heyday of the 2010s. Now, on just TikTok alone, there are over 700,000 videos under the #darkacademia tag, and over 80,000 under #lightacademia. Both dark and light academia deliver autumnal ensembles that look and feel like the first day of a new semester. Each aesthetic favors a layered outfit involving garments such as tweed jackets, chunky cable-knit sweaters

CICC moves to restore access to Tumblr – Philstar.com

Emmanuel Tupas - The Philippine Star March 14, 2026 | 12:00am MANILA, Philippines — The Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) has moved to restore access of internet users to social media platform Tumblr and 17 other websites that were blocked after a technical glitch inadvertently swept them into a nationwide crackdown against illegal online gambling operations. After a surge of reports from netizens about the sudden loss of access, the CICC launched an investigation into the service disruption. Initial findings showed that the system glitch flagged 18 domains that host legitimate platforms, including Tumblr, as accessories to illegal gambling operations. The error, the CICC said, resulted in an unintentional nationwide temporary access disruption, causing alarm among the platform’s Filipino user base.

Vinings Cove Volunteers Remove 19 Bags of Litter From Buckner Road – Cobb Courier

Avid community volunteer Barry Krebs submitted the following report with photos about an Adopt-A-Mile cleanup on Buckner Road. We appreciate the Vinings Cove Homeowners for cleaning up their adopted Buckner Road from Veterans Memorial Hwy (with the new traffic light!) to Oakdale Road. With the help of the GA Native Plant Society and South Cobb Lions Club, we were able to remove 19 bags of litter. We saw a lot of littered cans of Modelo Tall Boy cans with the top of the cans sawed off??? If you know who is doing that, please ask them to stop littering. If you are interested in the Adopt-A-Mile Program, please contact Dawn at keepcobbbeautiful@cobbcounty.gov . She can help you with everything including supplies. 3 Albums That Defined Tumblr’s Music Era – VICE

The Tumblr era that I personally like to call the golden age occurred around 2011 to 2016, give or take. As someone who had an active blog within those years, I feel particularly qualified to speak on the familiar and recognizable music scene at that time. Of course, there were a lot of other artists and albums that made Tumblr what it was, so this is not a definitive list. But the following three albums always come to mind when thinking about Tumblr’s indie-coded music scene. Videos by VICE ‘Badlands’ by Halsey Tumblr may have accidentally left Halsey out of its post celebrating 19 years of iconic online moments, but there’s no denying her impact on the site circa 2015. When Halsey released her debut album, Badlands, the songs “Gasoline” and “Colors” quickly made a home on Tumblr. There were grungy lyric edits everywhere, all with a sort of grainy nostalgia mixed in with mid-2010s indie aesthetics. Bloggers posted Halsey’s visuals and lyrics, which often focused on doomed love, toxic relationships, and romanticized delusion. Tumblr users ate that up. Halsey was the natural Tumblr successor to Lana Del Rey, whom we’ll discuss further down, of course. ‘AM’ by Arctic Monkeys

Undertone Review | Flickreel

Two elements of Undertone should be commended. One is Nina Kiri’s lead performance. Undertone isn’t exactly a one-woman show, although most of the Kiri’s co-stars are restricted to voiceovers. The only other onscreen performer spends the majority of the film incapacitated. Despite lacking a screen partner to work off of, Kiri is utterly convincing as a woman who’s either going mad or falling victim to the madness closing in on her. This madness is conveyed less through the film’s visuals and more from its sound, which is the other element that deserves praise. Sound in general is one aspect of film that we often take for granted. In Undertone, David Gertsman’s sound design and Dane Kelly’s sound mixing are so meticulous that you don’t just hear a clock tick. You feel every movement of the clock hands. It’s just as effective and Oscar-worthy as the use of sound in A Quiet Place, but Undertone is more understated in its approach. Between Kiri’s performance and the chilling sound effects, a part of me wants to recommend Undertone. The film falls short, however, in a key area: the story. The film is a slow burn, and by the time we see what

Novel approach gives writer Courtney a reason beyond rhyme – The Illawarra Flame

After a decade of success in the poetry scene, Farmborough Heights author Courtney Peppernell is returning to her roots with debut fiction novel The Last Poem. “I always joke that it was my goal to write novels but then I got onto this side quest in poetry and I’ve kind of been there for the last decade,” she says. “I’ve been writing poetry books and doing tours and meeting all these amazing beautiful kinds of readers that have connected over the books, but I always wanted to transition into novels. That was always the goal.” Courtney’s “side quest” began in the early days of Tumblr, where she built a dedicated following writing fan fiction and sharing snippets of poetry. “I was a little bit impatient because I’d read somewhere that writing can start to become a career if you have eight novels in the world. I was like, how am i going to write all these novels so quickly?” she says. “So I was a Tumblr girlie back in the day. It’s a bit cringe now but still I guess you’ve got to start somewhere. Lots of people were connecting with my writing.” These online roots led to Courtney entering
