by Ross Williams, Georgia Recorder, August 21, 2026 Republican Public Service Commissioner Tricia Pridemore is stepping down early next month, 60 days before the election to replace her. In an Aug. 18 email to Republican Gov. Brian Kemp, Pridemore announced her plan to leave the body that regulates Georgia’s utility companies and helps set energy prices for Georgia Power customers. Her resignation was first reported by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Pridemore provided a copy of her resignation letter to the Recorder but declined to comment further. Her resignation takes effect Sept. 4. “It has been an honor to serve Georgia in this position,” wrote Pridemore, who has served since 2018. Georgia code gave Kemp, who is a Republican, the authority to appoint her successor until the next election. Kemp announced Friday he had selected former Commissioner Stan Wise, who previously served from 1995 to 2018, to hold the seat until the next elected commissioner is sworn in. The election is set for Nov. 3, when Republican Josh Tolbert is set to face Democrat Shelia Edwards for control of the seat. Tolbert did not respond to a request for comment Friday.

More specifically, many websites have had their entire rise and fall over the past twenty years. Perhaps one of the most famous examples is, of course, MySpace: a quirky social media platform known for its userbase's creative personal webpages, an underground and upcoming musicians' place to promote their music, and rising to the top of someone's coveted Top 8 featured friends list. Unlike many fallen sites from yesteryear, MySpace is set to relaunch at some point in the future, according to an interview with People.com. Some other sites that made waves in the 2000s also never went away, whether they grew in popularity or shrunk into the shadows. Facebook and Tumblr, for example, launched in 2004 and 2007 respectively and are each still kicking today, admittedly to varying degrees of popularity. Meanwhile, some other once-popular sites haven't been so lucky, and remain relics of the relative past. Atmosphere Over Acting Directed by Adam O’Brien (OM) from a script co-written with John Petrizzi and Brad Hodson, the film uses its single-take gimmick to great effect. The cinematography is genuinely impressive, using fluid camerawork and decaying set design to build a heavy, suffocating sense of dread. Unfortunately, the cast—featuring Dawn Ford, Emmanuelle Lussier Martinez, and Bill Rowat—doesn’t quite match the technical craft. I always see familiar faces and enjoy the beautiful artwork on the pedestrian bridges. Several years ago, a cat named Roger befriended me in the houses behind the cemetery.  I nicknamed him Chonk because he was a wee bit rotund. But he couldn’t be any friendlier and always came running when he heard my 80s workout music blasting from my bike speaker. This is rare for an outdoor cat, which are usually skittish and wary of humans. He liked to rub his face on my bike pedals and roll over to show me his fuzzy belly.  He had several neighbor caretakers who made sure he was well fed and had a warm bed in the winter.  Chonk wasn’t there on my recent visit, and sadly, I learned that he passed away. Trending on Billboard There are singers, and then there are sangers — and the difference is always palpable. For decades, vocalists harnessing virtuosic technique and the conviction and training of the Black church defined R&B just as much as the genre’s generational love songs and everlasting blues ballads (think the dizzying melisma or extended belts of the ’90s). But at the turn of the 2010s, a murkier, more ethereal take on the genre emerged that bridged the traditional songwriting machine with access-widening internet hubs like Tumblr and SoundCloud. Led by the likes of Frank Ocean, Jhené Aiko, The Weeknd and Miguel, this new generation of artists began to push R&B into a space that, at least temporarily, seemed to deprioritize more flamboyant displays of vocal prowess in favor of vocal tone and lyrical relatability. As offshoots like alternative R&B, trap soul and vibe&B have relegated traditional R&B vocal stylings to the back burner, fans have noticed.
