Our long national nightmare is over: Ryan Seacrest is confirmed to return as host of American Idol for Season 24, TVLine has learned. This news comes as the ABC competition show is set to kick off its “Idol Across America” auditions, beginning Tuesday, Sept. 9 with hopefuls from Alaska, California, Hawaii, Nevada and Washington. (A full breakdown of the audition touring schedule can be found on Idol‘s official website.) In case you missed the previous news about Idol’s judging panel, allow us to catch you up: all three current judges — Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie and Carrie Underwood — are confirming to be returning for Season 24. Bryan and Richie have been part of the judges’ panel since Idol debuted on ABC in Season 16, making this their ninth season judging together. Underwood, who was first introduced to Idol viewers as the winner of Season 4, made her debut as a judge in Season 23; she took over from Katy Perry, who sat between Bryan and Richie for Seasons 16 through 22. “I think she brought so much,” Idol showrunner Megan Michaels Wolflick told TVLine of Underwood’s debut season back in May. “She really had to carve out her own

Military veteran Mike Boyce, who served as chairman of the Cobb County Board of Commissioners from 2017 to 2021, is being inducted (posthumously) into the Georgia Military Veterans Hall of Fame. Boyce retired as a colonel in the Marines after more than 30 years of service, which included an active role in Operation Desert Storm. Candidates are selected reflecting three different categories: valor, achievements, and service. Hall of Fame President and CEO Col. Rick White (USA-Ret) says Boyce was nominated in the service category. Boyce was elected chair in 2016 and served one four-year term, but Hall of Fame officials say his service to Cobb and the region began long before. After retiring from the military in 2001 he moved to Marietta and became a government and military contractor. At the same time, Hall of Fame

Carey presented this very award to LL Cool J back in 1997, and who should happen to be hosting the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards? Why, none other than Mr. NCIS: Los Angeles himself. That has to mean something, right? Maybe just really good scheduling? Well done, producers. With all respect to LL, however, the VMAs managed to wrangle someone even bigger to present Carey with her big award — fellow whistle tone queen Ariana Grande! She introduced Carey as “one of the reasons so many of us sing.” After performing a snippet of her new single “Sugar Sweet,” Carey gave the people what they came for, a medley of the songs that paved her road to stardom. She kicked things off with “Fantasy,” followed by “Heartbreaker,” then “Obsessed,” “It’s Like That” and “We Belong Together.” She even brought back her iconic alter ego Bianca for a well-deserved rematch. (She was no match, of course.) Watch Carey’s full VMAs performance below: Carey joins a long

On top of all this, he seems to be getting ready to use force to get regime change in Venezuela., which is hardly a threat to the United States. The Trump administration is in a deep hole and digging deeper. From John’s Substack. Join the Discussion! We welcome thoughtful and respectful comments. Initially, it was briefly released in 1983 at the height of the “Satanic Panic.” Religious groups and community leaders quickly had it banned, claiming the film was not a work of fiction but an actual tool for speaking with the devil himself. Now, after decades of being suppressed, the film has been purchased by an anonymous buyer who is bringing it back from the depths. The Buzz: Raw Reactions from the Horror Community The film’s re-emergence has created a palpable buzz in the horror community. Test screenings have generated a slew of chilling reactions, with viewers sharing their unsettling experiences. “My stomach was in knots the whole time. I didn’t even blink during the last ten minutes.” “My hands were literally sweating. This movie isn’t just scary—it feels like it’s gonna reach out and grab you.” “I’ve seen ‘scary’ movies before, but nothing like this. It’s like it breaks the rules of what a horror movie should be.” “I can’t tell if it was the actors or the movie itself, but something about this felt… real. Like

Just three weeks after they dropped the trailer, Eli Roth announced that his new company, Horror Section Studios, is producing a feature-length version of the horror comedy. The original trailer, which was released as part of the promotion for the movie Jimmy and Stiggs , features Snoop Dogg’s voice-over as he warns a parade of clueless people to stop going into a cursed house. Of course, they never listen, and the horrors that ensue get more and more insane. A Killer Collaboration Variety is reporting that both Roth and Snoop Dogg will produce the film, with Snoop also writing and producing the soundtrack’s music. According to Roth, this project has been on his mind for a while. “There are some ideas that are so ridiculous they don’t let you sleep,” he said. “I have always wanted to make the ultimate haunted house movie, but something unlike any we’ve seen—something full on insane and over the top. When I shared the idea with Snoop, he got it immediately and it was a

The Iceland-born 26-year-old singer and multi-instrumentalist arrived on the scene with the EP Typical of Me in 2021, released independently through AWAL, before releasing her debut album Everything I Know About Love the following year. But it was 2023’s Bewitched that catapulted her into the mainstream consciousness, debuting at No. 18 on the Billboard 200 and ultimately winning a Grammy Award for best traditional pop vocal album. All of which seems like a story that, while not exactly straightforward, is not particularly unheard of. Related The difference, for Laufey, is that she isn’t really making traditional pop vocal music: instead, the supremely talented artist is bringing a blend of jazz and classical music into the pop realm for a mainstream Gen Z audience in a way that hasn’t really ever happened before — and is still doing it independently through AWAL. This week, her third album, A Matter Of Time, debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 and at No. 1 on four separate Billboard charts — Independent Albums, Jazz Albums, Traditional Jazz Albums and Vinyl Albums — and became the highest-charting jazz album

It is a centerpiece of their lives, and they want their job to be meaningful. Decades of research suggest this is true for most federal civil servants, who aim to serve not only their organizations and their missions, but also the public and the nation. Over the course of President Donald Trump’s first administration, from 2017-21, we spoke with dozens of federal civil servants. They described their jobs as a calling aligned with their ideals – to serve the government, uphold democracy and serve the public. Turbulent change during Trump’s first term, however, tested many workers. Over a quarter of the civil servants we spoke with ultimately left the federal government. Since the start of his second term, Trump has attempted a far more sweeping overhaul of the federal bureaucracy. More than 50,000 federal workers have been fired or targeted for layoffs. The U.S. Agency for International Development was shuttered, for example, and more than 80% of employees have been fired from AmeriCorps and the Consumer Financial
