It is a centerpiece of their lives, and they want their job to be meaningful. Decades of research suggest this is true for most federal civil servants, who aim to serve not only their organizations and their missions, but also the public and the nation. Over the course of President Donald Trump’s first administration, from 2017-21, we spoke with dozens of federal civil servants. They described their jobs as a calling aligned with their ideals – to serve the government, uphold democracy and serve the public. Turbulent change during Trump’s first term, however, tested many workers. Over a quarter of the civil servants we spoke with ultimately left the federal government. Since the start of his second term, Trump has attempted a far more sweeping overhaul of the federal bureaucracy. More than 50,000 federal workers have been fired or targeted for layoffs. Crutch has scored a release date at Paramount+: Tracy Morgan‘s The Neighborhood spinoff will premiere Monday, Nov. 3, TVLine has learned. All eight episodes of the multi-camera comedy will be available to stream on release day. Morgan previously guest-starred on The Neighborhood as Calvin’s brother Curtis. He returns to the franchise as Calvin’s cousin, Frank Crutchfield — aka Crutch. Described by Paramount+ as “a brash but beloved Harlem shop owner,” Crutch finds his world turned upside down when his adult kids return home. Joining Morgan on the spinoff are Jermaine Fowler (Superior Donuts) as Crutch’s highbrow son Jake, an Ivy League-educated lawyer who chooses to provide low-cost legal aid over a high-paying position at a prestigious law firm; Adrianna Mitchell (Snowfall) as Crutch’s free-spirited daughter Jamilah, who moves back home with her two kids; and Tony Award winner Kecia Lewis as Crutch’s meddling sister-in-law, Antoinette, who has inserted herself as the de facto matriarch of the Crutchfield clan. NCIS is turning back the clock for its next crossover. For the first time, the flagship NCIS will cross paths with prequel NCIS: Origins in a two-hour crossover event airing Tuesday, Nov. 11 on CBS, the network announced Thursday. On NCIS: Origins, airing at 8/7c, “Gibbs and team investigate the small-town death of a naval officer in the ‘90s,” and then on NCIS, airing at 9 pm, the same case is “unexpectedly re-opened in the present day.” Series stars Wilmer Valderrama (NCIS) and Austin Stowell (NCIS: Origins) unveiled the crossover news in a video, which you can watch above. This marks the first crossover for NCIS: Origins, which debuted last October with Stowell starring as a young Leroy Jethro Gibbs, the role famously played by Mark Harmon on the original NCIS. But the NCIS franchise has played host to many crossovers in the past, of course — most recently in 2024, with NCIS crossing over with the since-cancelled NCIS: Hawai’i.
