Music publishers in the US have hit Roblox Corporation, the developer behind the massively successful online video game Roblox, with a $200million lawsuit alleging widespread copyright infringement. READ MORE: This is why people watch other people play video games The suit was filed by the National Music Publishers’ Association (NMPA) on behalf of big publishers such as ABKCO Music & Records and indie labels such as Big Machine Records. It alleges that the video game company has not been taking necessary steps to prevent copyright infringement by its users, leading to an “unabashed exploitation of music without proper licenses”. NMPA is seeking a minimum of $200million in damages. Songs that are allegedly being used in Roblox with neither consent from nor compensation to copyright holders include tracks by Ariana Grande, Imagine Dragons, deadmau5, Ed Sheeran and The Rolling Stones, according to the NMPA. Such was the case for traveldanielle during her latest Twitch stream. While all appeared to be fine throughout the first three and a half hours of her Destiny fashion show, things came to a sudden end when her dog came bursting into the broadcast frame. Trying to encourage her pet bulldog onto her lap, ‘Brimstone’ quickly whipped his head back and accidentally cracked Danielle in the skull. “He’s insane, I don’t know what his deal is. That really hurt,” she said, reacting to the pain and walking off camera in tears. This year’s second annual series is noteworthy for the fact that it will also be presented live as a ticketed event, with an in-person crowd at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
