Cloakzy finally hits Twitch streamer market again after messy FaZe exit: “Sign me up!”

Popular Twitch streamer Dennis ‘Cloakzy’ Lepore is actively looking to join another esports organization after his planned Florida move, following his high-profile split from gaming giants FaZe Clan earlier this year. Cloakzy has spent the last two years trying to get out of his 2017 deal with FaZe, after Tfue’s drawn-out battle with the org revealed Lepore’s agreement was actually also “illegal” and ill-favored for the star. Like Tfue’s situation, Cloakzy claimed he was in a “really bad contract” and attempted to cordially split with FaZe. The planned exit dragged on for almost two years, however, with Lepore “trapped” — according to the star creator —  by several contract clauses that favored FaZe in the dispute. That all finally came to an end on March 9. Now Cloakzy is a free agent on the very busy content creator market, and the Twitch star plans to take full advantage of his “freedom” to join another popular org. Twitter: CloakzyCloakzy and Tfue both battled through high-profile FaZe Clan splits in the past two years. The former Fortnite pro admitted he “really wants to join a new org” midway through his June 6 stream, and revealed he’s already sent his agency to feel…

Why Stephen “tWitch” Boss Is Embracing His to Be That Embarrassing AF Dad

Allison Holker & tWitch's Love StorySome things are just genetic. Because when 5-year-old son Maddox joined Stephen "tWitch" Boss at the photo shoot for his newly launched limited-edition Psycho Bunny x tWitch collaboration, the preschooler took to the camera like, well, a Boss.  "Oh, he was ecstatic," tWitch recalled to E! News in an exclusive interview. "He was ecstatic. Like, he was beaming from ear to ear all day. He loved all the crew members. He loved being in front of the camera and also looking at the shots behind the camera. And that was awesome, too, to just watch him operate and kind of do his thing."  Certainly, Maddox wasn't the only one sporting a broad-faced grin as they posed in pieces as bright as tWitch's personality and demonstrated the steps for the accompanying #DADMOVES TikTok challenge. "When you see that your kids have a natural knack for something, I think that's really special," shared the proud dad of three. "And he just comes alive in front of the camera, he just really does."So do they think they have a budding star on their hands?  Perhaps. tWitch says he and wife Allison Holker are constantly flip-flopping about whose (carefully choreographed) footsteps Maddox and 18-month-old sister Zaia are following…

Everyone's a Critic: Copyright Considerations for YouTube and Twitch Reaction Videos (Part I)

A few months ago, my colleague Jay Kerr-Wilson published this blog post on the intellectual property issues surrounding the phenomenon of “Let’s Play” videos, a genre of online videos where an individual records and broadcasts themselves playing a video game. The individual might film themselves or just provide audio commentary, but in either scenario their own content is layered on top of the game that they are playing. The blog post discusses how this video genre could be considered copyright infringement with respect to the video game being played, as well as why generally we are not seeing infringement cases in this area because of the symbiotic relationship between content creators and video game publishers. As an avid consumer of YouTube and Twitch content myself, I enjoy a variety of different video genres—Let’s Play videos included. In fact, there is one particular video genre that I find myself consistently exploring: “reaction” videos. In Part I of this blog post, I’ll discuss about what reaction videos are, why they’re relevant with respect to copyright infringement, and how an exception under the Copyright Act might apply to them. In Part II of this blog post, I’ll explore the Copyright Act exception at…
