Twitch has responded to rival streaming platform Kick after it mocked the company over its handling of 70/30 subscription splits. The exchange comes just days after streamers Kalei and StableRonaldo claimed Twitch had “randomly” removed their 70/30 sub revenue share. Twitch denied those claims, stating that longstanding contracts are still being honored and that a backend migration to a new payout system caused confusion. Now, competitor Kick has entered the conversation. Kick mocks Twitch over sub splits On February 13, Kick posted on X: “imagine getting 70/30 when everyone gets 95/5 on kick,” referencing its widely promoted 95/5 subscription revenue model. Twitch’s Head of Community, Merry Kish, responded directly to the post, writing: “95/5 of bots is still $0.” The comment appeared to suggest that higher revenue splits are irrelevant without strong viewer support, while also taking aim at ongoing debates about viewership quality across platforms.
