The New Testament in Its World Video Lectures | Frank Viola – Patheos

In a past blog post, I wrote about the book The New Testament in its World by N.T. Wright and Michael Bird. The publisher kindly let me have access to the video lecture series on vimeo that goes along with the book, which you can check out here. Let me explain what the video lecture series is and isn’t. What is it The quality of the videos is top notch. They were obviously professionally recorded. The content for each video runs from about 15 minutes to 40 minutes. Each video features both Wright and Bird alternating. Some videos capture places like Israel, Rome, etc. wherever they are speaking about. There are 38 videos in all. They go through the entire New Testament, from Matthew to Revelation. The teaching content is mostly academic. They cover things like authorial intent, origin, who wrote what, the various debates on controversial questions of authorship, time, place, the main themes of each NT book, etc. They give a general overview of each NT letter as they see it. What it’s not It’s not preaching. It’s not an in-depth study. It’s not aimed at the heart (or spirit), so the videos don’t provide spiritual insight or…

Watch: 'A Conversation' Between Jimmy Chin & Brolin Mawejje Short | FirstShowing.net

by Alex Billington September 17, 2021Source: Vimeo "My heart is still always in the mountains." Be inspired in only six minutes with this lovely little short film made by snowboarder / filmmaker Phil Hessler. The short is called A Conversation, and it is indeed just a meet-and-greet conversation between two iconic people within the outdoor sports industry - Ugandan-born professional snowboarder Brolin Mawejje, who's training for the Olympics; and professional climber / filmmaker Jimmy Chin, also known as the co-director of the doc films Meru, Free Solo, and this year's The Rescue. They meet in Jackson Hole for "an intimate conversation about their unique career paths as minorities in the outdoor industry and how they’ve struggled with pressure, both familial and internal." This originally premiered at the Mountainfilm Festival and it's now online to watch. It's great to hear from these two. More than anything this just makes me want to get up to the mountains to go skiing, too. Watch below. Thanks to Vimeo Staff Picks for the tip on this one. Original description direct from Vimeo: "The film is built around a conversation between Academy Award-winning filmmaker Jimmy Chin and Ugandan-born snowboarder Brolin Mawejje. Their conversation tells a…

LuzInterruptus The Plastic We Live With at the Jelsa Art Biennial | Livegreenblog – Floornature

We have been living with plastic for many years, and cannot easily get by without it. We are aware of the environmental impact, from the large “garbage patch areas” in the oceans, to the bags we find on our walks in the woods. It is a practical material, but one that is harmful to the environment and to our own health. This is a theme that the LuzInterruptus art collective has been tackling for some time, and they have now presented it again this summer as part of the Jelsa Art Biennial, a festival of contemporary art on the island of Hvar in Croatia. The Plastic We Live With was created in an abandoned building that was part of the Hotel Jadran tourist resort, overlooking the marina on the shore of the Adriatic Sea. As happened in Bordeaux in 2018, the members of the collective intervened on the more than 40 windows of the structure to create the work. They explain why they have somehow recycled one of their ideas: “We thought it fit to do it again, because it represents, in a graphic understandable way, the plastic surplus infesting our environment. This theme is quite recurrent in our work.…

Why online extracurricular startup Kyt acquired Vimeo creator Zach Klien's DIY.org and … – YourStory

Extracurricular edtech startup KytTechnologies has acquired San Francisco-based DIY.org, and has merged operations of the two companies. Kyt has rebranded itself as DIY.org, which was built and operated by Zach Klein, also the Founder of Vimeo, and designed as a project-based learning platform for kids. "We wanted to create a platform to get children to learn and pick up new skills, and we came across DIY in our research. We connected with Zach in late 2020, and there was an instant spark. He was talking about exploration and learning by doing, and we said we were looking to grow. We realised we aligned. If Netflix made kids smarter, YouTube was safer, and Instagram was built for kids…DIY would be it. Zach had kept it US-based; we are now in 148 countries," said Bhavik Rathod, Co-founder, DIY.Org (formerly Kyt), in a conversation with YourStory. A company statement said DIY.org is the largest learning community for children to learn together and share their creations in an engaging, safe, and moderated environment. Children can watch video-based courses or join live workshops, learn skills, try activities (all courses are designed to encourage learning by doing or are project based), and then share their creations…

Why Vimeo Stock Dived by 10% Today | The Motley Fool

Investors weren't at all cheered by the company's latest monthly update. What happened Video software and services company Vimeo (NASDAQ:VMEO) had a Tuesday to forget. The company's stock fell by just over 10% on the day, thanks to some less-than-inspiring monthly metrics published after market hours on Monday. So what As is its habit, Vimeo unveiled an update of several of its key metrics, this time for the month of August. For the period, its year-over-year growth in total revenue was 33%, continuing a declining streak following a peak of 60% in March. Image source: Getty Images. Growth in average revenue per user, meanwhile, was 15%, matching the July rate. But that's also down from the top levels of the preceding 13 months: 27%, achieved in December 2020 and February and March of this year. Finally, the one operational metric in the update, Vimeo's subscriber count, also clocked in at 15% growth for August. More or less following the pattern of the other yardsticks, this is low compared to earlier this year, when it reached a high of 26% in February. Vimeo stressed that the August data is preliminary, and therefore subject to adjustment. Save for that note, the tech…

Vimeo Now Supports Dolby Vision, But Only On Apple Devices – Lowyat.NET

After adopting HDR10 in 2017, Vimeo has announced that the video-sharing platform now also supports Dolby Vision. There is a catch to this though: this feature is only available for Apple devices at the moment. As you may know, not all Apple devices are able to support the proprietary HDR format. Among products that are compatible with the Dolby Vision includes iPhone 8 and newer, iPad Pro 2nd generation and above, certain Mac models, and the Apple TV 4K that is paired with a Dolby Vision-supported TV. Works with both Safari web browser and Vimeo dedicated app, it will automatically detect and play videos in Dolby Vision on compatible devices. On another hand, incompatible products will receive the best visual format that matches them. Within the Apple family, only iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max are able to capture Dolby Vision videos at the moment. Of course, one can also use Final Cut Pro to edit their HDR videos and then export them as Dolby Vision-compatible videos before uploading them to Vimeo. For the full list of compatible devices as well as which ones can work with adapters and external monitors, you can…
