Uzoho issues public apology to Nigerians over social media outburst – Vanguard News

By Adegboyega Adeleye Super Eagles goalkeeper Francis Uzoho has apologised to fans over his recent social media outburst–his reaction to criticisms that trailed his performance in the team’s recent friendlies against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique. Uzoho had a poor performance and conceded easy goals against the Green Falcons and Mambas. In a bid to silence the criticisms by Nigerian fans, the 24-year-old posted a picture on Snapchat, tagging it “do it if it’s easy.” However, a day after the outburst, the goalkeeper took to X (Twitter), asking Nigerians to forgive him. He wrote, “It has come to my attention that my recent Snapchat has not been my best behaviour towards you all as my loyal fans,” “I apologise for this as it was not my intention to conduct myself in such a manner toward the fans who have supported and motivated me throughout my career. “My actions were more a result of frustration stemming from the actions of someone in my circle (will keep the identity private for now).” Uzoho added: “Accepting criticism is part of my job and one that I often welcome from the people who continue to support me. I accept your criticisms with the utmost respect

How To Get Rid Of My AI On Snapchat – The Daily Dot

Kahron Spearman Trending Posted on Oct 18, 2023   Updated on Oct 18, 2023, 4:34 pm CDT If you’re wondering how to get rid of My AI on Snapchat, know that it has a multiple-choice answer attached to a developing saga. In February 2023, Snapchat introduced its AI chatbot, My AI, as an “AI friend” for its users. This addition was met with mixed reactions. While some users were impressed by the bot’s ability to understand multiple languages and dialects, others were less enthusiastic. Many have criticized its need for more real functionality, its tendency to pop up mid-chat, and its position at the top of chat lists without serving a genuine purpose. Additionally, confusion arose regarding how the app uses location data. An incident where My AI uploaded its own photo to Snapchat stories, per an August 2023 story in Dexerto, only added to the criticism. But is My AI here to stay on Snapchat? Despite the negative feedback, Snapchat appears to be committed to the feature. Instead of removing or deactivating My AI in response to glitches or user complaints, the company has taken steps to monetize it by integrating sponsored links into My AI’s responses. Several approaches are available

74-Year-Old Cambridge Man Sentenced to 10 Years for Sexual Abuse of 12-Year-Old

CAMBRIDGE, MD - The Easton Police Department has announced the conviction and sentencing of a Cambridge man who was found guilty of enticement and coercion of a minor to engage in sexual activity. According to police, a US District Judge on October 13 sentenced Richard Robinson, 74, to 10 years in federal prison followed by 24 years of supervised release. The decade-long sentence stems from a 2018 incident in which Robinson arranged a meeting for sexual activity with a 12-year-old boy at a park in Easton, MD. Robinson used his phone to record the abuse, according to police. A July 2021 tip from Snapchat alerted authorities that Robinson had uploaded suspected child pornography to his Snapchat account. Police seized two phones at Robinson’s home and reportedly found images of the 12-year-old victim on them. Police say Robinson texted others describing the abuse of the boy, as well as shared the images via Snapchat. During their investigation into Robinson, police were able to identify another suspect in communication with Robinson engaged in sharing child pornography and sexual abuse of a minor. Kaleb Scott, 24, formerly of Vancouver, Washington, was sentenced to 21 years in prison in February of this year as a result of

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A Fairbury man is accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl at a southeast Lincoln hotel earlier this year. U.S. Surgeon General warns of negative impact social media has on mental health of teens …

(CNN) — The U.S. Surgeon General is once again warning of the impacts of social media on mental health, especially among teens and young adults. The current surgeon general joined all six of his predecessors for a special discussion on the matter at Dartmouth College. Even as the country has spent more on healthcare than ever before, our mental health has been steadily and sadly declining for two decades now. When the pandemic hit, its impact would extend far beyond physical health. The virus, the isolation, the loss of loved ones—it was like throwing gas onto an already roaring flame. “I’m so concerned about our children, because there is an epidemic, if you will, of mental health challenges that they’ve been facing,” said Dr. Vivek Nurthy, the current U.S. Surgeon General. Gov. Spencer Cox addresses mental health problems caused by social media towards teenagers The latest numbers show about 42% of high schoolers say they constantly feel sad or hopeless, which is up more than 50% from 1999. A recent survey found that more than 40% of undergrads have considered dropping out, largely because of mental health and emotional stress. 41% of undergrads reported overall depression and 14% reported suicidal

Report: Snapchat Expected to Surpass User Base Expectations – Pymnts.com

By PYMNTS  |  October 16, 2023 Snapchat’s parent company, Snap, saw an increase in its shares after a report said the social media platform is expected to surpass Wall Street expectations for its user base. Snap is projected to have over 475 million daily active users (DAUs) by 2024, exceeding a Visible Alpha estimate of 447 million, Reuters reported Monday (Oct. 16), citing The Verge. The numbers come as good news for Snap, which has been facing tough competition and a weak advertising market, according to the report. The company has been struggling to maintain its position in the social media landscape, particularly with the rise of platforms like TikTok. In addition to the user growth, Snap also expects its advertising revenue to increase by more than 20% in 2024, surpassing Wall Street estimates of 14% growth, the report said. The stock market reacted positively to the news, with Snap shares jumping 11%. An analyst said in the report that expectations for Snap’s stock were previously low, but if the company reaches the projected user and advertising revenue growth, its stock value could increase as a result. Snap was the first social media firm relying on ads to experience a downturn in demand, according
