Snapchat Stories Disappear in 24 Hours — Here’s How to Save Them – nerdbot

Published: April 2026 | Reading Time: 11 minutes Snapchat was built around one idea: content that disappears. When Evan Spiegel and Bobby Murphy launched the app in 2011 from Stanford University, the whole point was that photos and videos would vanish after being viewed. Stories, introduced in 2013, extended that window to 24 hours — but the core concept stayed the same. Once the clock runs out, the content is gone. That design choice is what made Snapchat different from Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook. But it also created a real problem for people who actually want to keep certain stories. Maybe it is a recipe your friend shared, a behind-the-scenes clip from a brand you follow, or a travel vlog that you want to revisit later. Waiting 24 hours and hoping you remember to rewatch it before it expires is not a reliable plan. This is why people look for ways to save Snapchat stories before they vanish. In this guide, we will cover every method that works in 2026, from built-in Snapchat features to third-party tools that let you download stories directly to your device. How Snapchat Stories Actually Work Before jumping into saving methods, it helps to understand

Gen Z’s dating lives are a mess – boomers had it easy – i Newspaper

Last week I woke up to a text from my ex, a guy I haven’t spoken to for over two years. It was the classic “r u up?” message, the one you’d assume would have left me feeling relatively smug and him somewhat mortified. Unfortunately, this was not the case. Instead, it sent me on a humiliating dive into his Instagram, into old pictures from the summer we first began dating, and, even more embarrassingly, into our old text messages. I couldn’t stop. Before I’d even brushed my teeth, I’d done a more than rigorous investigation of our relationship’s digital archives, stored safely within everything from Instagram, my camera roll, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp and even Spotify – there’s a particular playlist that sadly had to be sacrificed after said breakup. It was maddening. I hadn’t yearned for this man for years and yet here I was, longing for the days when we were last an item. The dating lives of Generation Z are subject to more analysis and critique than any generation that has come before us. But there is one thing that I believe is yet to be spoken about: after a break-up, our phones keep our exes in

Instagram Rolls Out ‘Instants’ App for Sharing Disappearing Photos | PetaPixel

Instagram is launching a new standalone app called “Instants” that allows users to share unedited, disappearing photos that can only be viewed once and remain available for 24 hours. The Instants app is currently available in Spain and Italy, but it has not launched in other markets, a Meta spokesperson confirmed to TechCrunch. “To give people low-pressure ways to connect with friends, we’re testing an app called Instants to share casual photos and videos in the moment,” a Meta spokesperson says in a statement to the news outlet. “We’re exploring multiple versions of Instants to see what people like, and will listen to our community.” TechCrunch reports that the Instants app emphasizes disappearing photos, putting it in competition with services such as Snapchat and BeReal. With Instants, users take photos directly in the app with a single tap. The images cannot be edited or uploaded from a camera roll. While text can be added to these photos, known as “instants,” no other changes are allowed. Each image can be viewed only once and expires after 24 hours, according to the app’s listing, which includes the slogan: “Real life, real quick.” Users can send Instants to mutual followers or a Close

Snapchat Introduces “Place Loyalty” to Rank Frequent Visitors on Snap Map

Snapchat has rolled out a new feature called “Place Loyalty” within its Snap Map, aiming to give users a clearer picture of how often they visit certain locations. The update adds a gamified layer to location tracking by ranking users based on their visit frequency to places like cafes, restaurants, and airports—while maintaining existing privacy safeguards. According to the company, Place Loyalty measures how frequently a user visits a specific location over the past year. Based on this activity, users are placed into tiers that reflect how often they return compared to other visitors. These tiers are divided into three levels: Gold for the top 1 per cent of visitors, Silver for the top 10 per cent, and Bronze for the top 25 per cent. This system allows users to see whether they rank among the most frequent visitors at their favourite spots. While browsing Snap Map, some locations may display a “Top Visitor” badge. By tapping on it, users can view their ranking and explore additional category highlights. Snapchat also noted that users can share their achievements through a dedicated sticker, adding a social element to the feature. For businesses and chains, the feature aggregates visits across multiple outlets.

Snap Map’s new ‘Place Loyalty’ badges will show the spots you visit most often

Snapchat is rolling out a new “Place Loyalty” feature that will show users when they’re among the most frequent visitors to a place on Snap Map over the past year, the company announced on Wednesday. If you’re in the top 25% of users who visit a certain place, you’ll see your ranking on the Snap Map and can choose to share it with others. You’ll receive a gold badge if you’re among the top 1% of visitors, silver if you’re top 10%, and bronze if you’re top 25%. For brands and chains, Snapchat aggregates visits across all locations. Of course, you will only see these badges if you choose to share your location with Snapchat. Additionally, Place Loyalty rankings are only visible to you, Snapchat says. The new feature is one more way for users to engage with the app and encourage them to share their loyalty badges on other social platforms or with friends in their social circle.
