Las Vegas man facing murder charge in fentanyl-overdose death bought pills from unknown …

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A 27-year-old Las Vegas man was charged with second-degree murder for allegedly providing the fentanyl pills that led to another man’s overdose death last year, police said. Jacob Mathis, 27, was discovered deceased inside an apartment near Silverado Ranch Boulevard and Bermuda Road on April 3, 2021, police said. A maintenance worker had entered the apartment regarding a water leak. The unit was flooded from water coming from a bathroom, police said. The maintenance worker found Mathis’ body on the floor. Officers immediately suspected he had overdosed due to evidence at the scene. During the examination of Mathis’ body, the coroner located four suspected fentanyl pills inside Mathis’ wallet. As the 8 News Now I-Team has reported, the pills circulating in the Las Vegas valley, which contain fentanyl, are marked with the letter “M” and the number “30.” Drug cartels are manufacturing illicit fentanyl, a powerful synthetic opioid that is 50-to-100 times more potent than morphine, and combining it with other street drugs, the 8 News Now I-Team has reported. As part of their investigation, officers searched Mathis’ phone, finding text messages between Mathis and a person named “Tim,” they said. “Tim” was later identified as…

Published On 12 April,2022 08:58 am Twitter and Snapchat are expected to generate $5.58 billion and $4.86 billion. (Reuters) - Video-sharing app TikTok’s advertisement revenue is likely to triple in 2022 to more than $11 billion, exceeding the combined sales of its rivals Twitter Inc (TWTR.N) and Snap Inc (SNAP.N), according to research firm Insider Intelligence. TikTok, which is owned by Chinese company ByteDance, is one of the world’s most popular social media apps, with more than 1 billion active users. "TikTok’s user base has exploded in the past couple of years, and the amount of time users spend on the app is extraordinary," said Debra Aho Williamson, analyst at Insider Intelligence. Twitter and Snapchat are expected to generate $5.58 billion and $4.86 billion, respectively, in advertising revenue for 2022, with the combined value still less than the $11 billion projected for TikTok. Nearly $6 billion, or more than half, of this year’s ad revenue is expected to come from the United States, despite regulatory concerns over user data from U.S being passed on to China.

Walmart preps mealtime inspiration with shoppable Snapchat lens | Grocery Dive

Walmart's efforts to grow its e-commerce sales recently entailed the introduction of shoppable augmented reality (AR) content on the photo-messaging app Snapchat. The retailer's collaboration on the rollout of an AR lens seeks to inspire mobile users to make recipes with ingredients they have at home or can order from Walmart. The Walmart "Snap Scan & Shop" lens lets Snapchat users scan food items in a refrigerator or pantry with a smartphone camera to generate a list of 10 recipes that include those items. Allrecipes, the cooking site published by Dotdash Meredith, provides the recommendations and the ability to buy additional ingredients from Walmart, according to information shared with sister publication Marketing Dive. "The meal inspiration is intended to meet people where they are on their meal preparation journey on any day, whether that be by shopping in-store or online," a Walmart spokesperson told Marketing Dive by email. "Through this activation, our goal is to shorten the distance between inspiration and purchase, however they choose to shop." The introduction of the shoppable lens comes as more consumers buy products through social media apps like Facebook, TikTok, Pinterest or Snapchat. That activity is driving growth in social commerce, the global revenue…

Florida firefighter accused of extorting 14-year-old girl for nude videos – FOX 4 Kansas City WDAF-TV

POLK COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — A firefighter in Polk County, Florida, was arrested and accused of extorting a 14-year-old local girl to send him nude videos via Snapchat, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies said Richard Dalton Battle, 24, of Palmetto, found the 14-year-old girl on Instagram in 2019 and added her on Snapchat. The victim told Battle she was only 14, to which Battle allegedly replied, “Okay.” When the victim asked Battle how old he was, she says he didn’t answer. After conversations between the two turned sexual, Battle reportedly threatened to tell the girl’s mother unless the victim sent nude videos, a press release from the sheriff’s office stated. Battle reportedly told the girl he knew where she lived based on a feature built into the Snapchat messaging app called “Snapmaps,” where users can share their live location with friends and the community. Deputies said the girl feared Battle would come to her home, so she sent him two nude videos of herself. Deputies said Battle continued to message the girl, repeatedly asking for more videos, which she ignored until March 2022 when she decided she “couldn’t take it anymore.” When the girl searched for Battle’s…
