Cisco channels Snapchat for video app in bid to 'compress time'

All the sessions from Transform 2021 are available on-demand now. Watch now. The last year and a half has been filled with video chats, video chats, and more video chats. But while nearly every desk worker will tell you they’ve lived inside Zoom all this time, another type of video collaboration has been sneaking up in the background: asynchronous video. Asynchronous video refers to video collaboration that doesn’t happen in real time —– rather, you send a video message to a colleague to explain something too nuanced for email, and they can respond at their leisure. Since this method wasn’t the subject of memes or an endless barrage of think pieces, it was easy to miss if not already using it yourself. But companies have been boosting their asynchronous video offerings and experiencing more interest than ever before. Asana, for example, added asynchronous video to its platform, and Supernormal launched to combine the video method with AI. Loom, which has long been in the space, released a software developer kit (SDK) to allow any business to add a Loom-powered video record button to its own applications. The company also said its daily active users (DAUs) increased ninefold and revenue rose…

Malaysia regulator takes enforcement action against Binance

Malaysia has taken enforcement action against cryptocurrency platform Binance to stop it operating in the country, the Securities Commission said. The Commission said it had issued a public reprimand against Binance Holdings Limited, its CEO Zhao Changpeng and three other entities registered in the United Kingdom, Lithuania and Singapore, for continuing to operate in Malaysia despite being added to the regulator’s investor alert list a year ago. The regulator ordered Binance to disable its website and mobile applications, cease media and marketing activities, as well as restrict Malaysian investors from accessing its Telegram group. “Those who currently have accounts with Binance are strongly urged to immediately cease trading through its platforms and to withdraw all their investments immediately,” it said. Binance said on Friday it would wind down its futures and derivatives products offerings across Europe as the platform faces growing pressure from regulators across the world. Zion Williamson Caught Sliding Into Fitness Model's DM: 'Do You Still Want To Link?'

Zion Williamson was apparently exposed, trying to get the attention of a fitness Instagram model. The New Orleans Pelicans young star is trying to live his life, shooting his shot with beautiful girls on social media. Recently, one fitness model showed some Zion messages on Snapchat, with the sophomore asking her if she wanted to link up. This video is very short, but that didn't matter for fans who made it viral. Now, everybody is talking about Williamson's adventures on the internet. The lady in question, Morgan Davis, made it clear that she didn't expose Zion. Instead, she blamed her brother for trying to get attention with a Tik Tok video. It's not surprising to see this nowadays. When you talk about a high-profile name like Williamson, you know people will pay attention. However, the player received the fans' support, diminishing the whole situation and making jokes about it. This is not confirmed, though. Some say Zion's bitmoji is different on Snapchat, which makes the situation even weirder. The Pelican starred in a similar situation two years ago, trying to get into his bedroom. Morgan is a pretty good girl and it's likely that somehow she caught Zion's attention. Still, this situation got out of…

Juan Quinones-Rivera, 39, was discovered to have alleged child pornography images that he asked for and received through Snapchat, according to Assistant U.S. Attorney Caitlin Higgins. Higgins said that on April 21, 2019, New York State Parole contacted the FBI after a parole officer discovered Quinones-Rivera was in possession of a cell phone, which is a violation of his parole.  The parole officer found Snapchat messages between Quinones-Rivera and a female. A search of the phone recovered numerous videos and images of suspected child pornography, Higgins stated.  Quinones-Rivera requested and received about 50 videos and photos from the victim. Investigators also recovered sexually explicit text conversations between Quinones-Rivera and the victim.  In May, the FBI contacted the Greene County, Virginia Sheriff's Office for assistance in identifying the victim. Casey Neistat reveals what happened to his BEME app

Once upon a time, YouTube vlogging sensation Casey Neistat launched an app called “BEME” — but after selling the program to CNN, news on the project went radio silent. Casey Neistat is one of YouTube’s most prominent vloggers. Boasting over 12 million subscribers, the influencer reached fame for his daily vlogs in New York City, but has since moved to Los Angeles to focus on his family. That being said, his content still drives millions of views with every upload… but he’s more than just a YouTuber. In 2014, Neistat founded Beme Inc. alongside Matt Hackett with the intention of creating a mobile app by the same name: BEME. Neistat described the app as “Snapchat before Snapchat,” with an emphasis on sharing experiences without staring through a phone screen. Instead, users would record footage while holding their phone to their chest, allowing them to take in the real world instead of a filtered version of reality. In a stroke of major fortune, CNN purchased Beme Inc. in 2016 with the intention of creating a new brand to market to younger audiences… but in 2017, the BEME app officially shut down.
