A trainee paramedic who blackmailed four teenage boys, including two brothers, to send explicit pictures and videos of themselves has been handed a two year probation order. Newry Crown Court heard that 22-year-old Mark Wilson set up numerous fake Snapchat accounts to pose as a female in order to dupe the boys and then using the images to blackmail them into sending more on threat of public exposure. Wilson, from Thornleigh in Armagh, confessed his guilt to seven of the 12 charges against him – inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, inciting a child to take an indecent image of themselves, distributing indecent images of children and attempting to possess an indecent image of a child, all committed between December 1, 2016 and June 1, 2017. While the other five charges, four blackmail and one of sexual communication with a child, were being left in the books, prosecuting counsel Fiona O’Kane said the guilty pleas were being accepted “on a full facts basis”. A teenager filmed on Snapchat kicking a helpless pensioner into a freezing river has been jailed for 10 weeks. Benjamin Bridgeman, 19, booted the unsuspecting 74-year-old from behind as he paused during a walk along the River Mersey on April 25. He and a 16-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, could then be seen running away laughing after the attack. The elderly victim was only rescued from the water when two schoolgirls heard him screaming and formed a human chain to pull him out. Bridgeman, of Orford in Warrington, pleaded guilty to assault at the town’s magistrates’ court. District Judge Nicholas Sanders handed him a 10-week prison sentence and ordered him to pay the victim £500 in compensation. He said it was an ‘extremely serious offence’ and described the video as ‘frankly sickening’. The court heard the pensioner had been out for a walk at around 2.30pm on the Sunday afternoon when he was ‘pushed very hard from behind’. CLACKAMAS COUNTY, Ore. — Deputies with the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) arrested Vitaliy Yasinskiy, 40, on multiple rape and sex abused charges on Wednesday. Proposed online safety laws designed to protect people from harm online are not enough to address how risks spread rapidly across platforms, the NSPCC has said.The warning comes after an Ofsted report into sexual abuse in schools highlighted increasing prevalence of online-related incidents, including sexual images being shared via apps such as WhatsApp and Snapchat and concerns about easy access to pornography.Among the recommendations issued to Government the schools watchdog said the findings should be considered when developing the Online Safety Bill, so it can “strengthen safeguarding controls for children and young people to protect them from viewing online explicit material and engaging in harmful sexual behaviour using social media platforms”.The current draft of the law focuses on pornography that is user-generated, meaning it may overlook commercial adult sites.The review highlighted how children use different apps to record and share abuse, jumping easily from Snapchat to WhatsApp, but the draft Online Safety Bill fails to adequately address how risks spread rapidly across platformsAndy Burrows, head of child safety online policy at the NSPCC, said the Government must extend legislation to stop children from accessing pornography wherever it is hosted on the internet, if the Bill is going to make a…
