Snapchat is currently experiencing a widespread outage, leaving users around the world unable to send messages, access stories, or connect to the app’s servers. The disruption began this morning around 8 AM UK time (midnight PT). The issue is not limited to Snapchat. The outage is linked to a broader internet disruption caused by a failure at Amazon Web Services (AWS), which hosts a range of popular online services, News.Az reports, citing foreign media. Downdetector, the website that tracks service outages, shows a sharp spike in error reports for Snapchat, confirming the problem is widespread. Users have reported Snap scores failing to load and Snap Map being inaccessible. Other apps and games relying on AWS are also affected, leaving millions of users temporarily cut off from their favorite services. News.Az

A former aide to New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie was sentenced to ten years in prison for engaging in a sexual act with a six-year-old child. Kevin Tomafsky, 43, admitted to paying the victim’s father, who is also under indictment. The New Jersey Globe is withholding the other defendant’s name to protect the victim’s privacy. The former governor’s office staffer pleaded guilty to first-degree endangering the Welfare of a Child.   Tomafsky, a Washington Township resident, must serve at least five years before becoming eligible for parole, and will spend the remainder of his life on the Megan’s Law list of sex offenders. He was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Roger Lai. An investigation into Tomafsky began in October 2022 after Snapchat reported the uploading of an incident of alleged child sexual abuse to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which was then sent to the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s office. According to court records obtained by the New Jersey Globe, Tomafsky was identified as the original recipient of a photo of a young female engaged in oral sex with an adult after the Gloucester prosecutor’s office reviewed records supplied by Snapchat as a result of a warrant. LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — An Oklahoma man was arrested Sunday after he was found stalking a student on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s campus. Just before 3:15 a.m. on Oct. 1, a UNL community service officer found a suspicious male walking around a residence hall on campus. SEE ALSO: UNL Police report suspicious man inside residence hall on campus The officer told police the man — later identified as 34-year-old Alexander Sanchez — was looking at doors inside the residence hall for one hour. According to court documents, UNLPD responded to the residence hall after Sanchez made comments about finding his girlfriend. Police met Sanchez in the lobby of the residence hall. According to an affidavit, Sanchez initially refused to identify himself, insisted on leaving and was confrontational with officers. This led officers to temporarily detain Sanchez in handcuffs until he complied. According to court documents, Sanchez made several statements stating he was looking for his girlfriend, who he said personally invited him to the university.
