The marketing tactics killing your social media performance in 2026 – Dynamic Business

Donatas Smailys explains the three marketing tactics that stopped working in 2026 and what is actually driving engagement now. There is always a lag between when a marketing tactic stops working and when brands stop using it. According to Donatas Smailys, CEO and co-founder of UGC marketplace Billo, that lag is currently costing real money. “There is always a lag between when something stops working and when brands stop doing it,” he says. “Right now, that lag is costing real money.” The three tactics he identifies are not obscure experiments. They are strategies that have been widely adopted by brands of all sizes over the past two years, appearing in marketing guides, agency briefs, and social media playbooks across the industry. The problem is that audience behaviour and platform algorithms have moved faster than most marketing advice has caught up with. AI chatbots in your DMs The latest iteration of the AI chatbot trend is brands deploying conversational AI agents directly into users’ private messages. Snapchat launched sponsored AI chatbots inside users’ direct message inboxes in May 2026, positioning the move as more immediate and personal than traditional advertising. The logic is appealing on paper: reach people in the same

Photo: Open Justice/Hannah Bartlett Warning: This story discusses graphic details of sexual violence and assault. Snapchat predator and rapist Raveen Saily's offending has been described as driven by a "desire to demean and degrade" his victims. Saily's latest offending involved two girls, aged 11 and 13. The 11-year-old's mother's victim impact statement, read by Crown prosecutor Erin Reilly, explained that at the time, her daughter had been living with her grandmother. The grandmother had tried to put boundaries in place for online access, but "didn't know that much about online stuff, which made things harder to manage". " wasn't supposed to be using Snapchat because I know how dangerous it is myself," the girl's mother said. "But it's hard because, socially, that was her way to engage with certain friends. She should have been safe using Snapchat to chat with

Focus on bowling, stop snapchat: Arshdeep Singh gives away 500 runs in IPL 2026

Punjab Kings seamer Arshdeep Singh's season in the Indian Premier League has been a controversy-filled one. From inconsistent on-field performances to off-field antics, Arshdeep has found himself at the centre of attention during Punjab's dramatic dip in form in the second half of the season. Matters went from bad to worse for the left-arm pacer in Punjab's final league-stage game against Lucknow Super Giants, where Arshdeep sprayed the ball around and ended up conceding 52 runs in just three overs. While bowlers conceding 50-plus runs in a T20 game is not unheard of, doing so on a tricky Ekana Stadium surface came as a major surprise. Arshdeep struggled in every spell that he bowled on Saturday. He first leaked 16 runs in the opening over against Josh Inglis, who immediately put the bowler under pressure with aggressive strokeplay. The Australian batter later targeted him once again in the 12th over of the innings, smashing 19 runs and completely throwing Arshdeep off his lengths. Punjab captain Shreyas Iyer still backed his premier fast bowler at the death and handed him the final over of the innings, hoping Arshdeep would be able to control uncapped batters Abdul Samad and Arjun Tendulkar. Instead

Police praise brave victims of Glasgow snapchat sex offender after he is jailed for 10 years

Scott Ijomanta, 38, was sentenced at the High Court after being found guilty of raping a 14-year old girl and grooming two other youngsters Police have thanked the young victims who helped bring a brutal sex attacker to justice. Scott Ijomanta, 38, brutally raped a 14-year-old girl after taking her hostage at his flat in Maryhill, Glasgow in August 2024 - while out on bail for grooming two other youngsters. He was jailed for 10 years on Friday when he appeared at the High Court in Glasgow on Friday (May 22) and was also handed a lifelong non-harassment order. The sick sex offender claimed he was just 12 while trawling Snapchat for young girls, and told his victim at one stage: "I can see that you are terrified - it just makes me want to kill you." Passing sentence, Judge Tom Hughes told him: "This type of offending is totally and utterly unacceptable. This can never be tolerated.” A trial heard how the young rape victim had agreed to meet after they had been in contact on Snapchat. Ijomanta initially pretended he was much younger and that his name was Joseph. He gave his address and offered to pay for

Snap’s AR glasses with display reportedly beat Android XR to launch, but for $2500

A new report reveals that Snap’s long-in-development AR glasses, “Spectacles,” are finally set to launch later this year, but for a steep price tag. Sources, a newsletter from reporter Alex Heath, reported in April that Snap (the parent company of Snapchat) would be previewing an updated pair of its Spectacles AR glasses soon, with a consumer launch “in the fall.” The report was highlighted by UploadVR this week, which also highlighted another prior report that the price target for these glasses is an eye-watering $2,500. Oof. Snap has confirmed a keynote address at the Augmented World Expo (AWE) event in June which, based on Heath’s reporting, would be an ideal time to talk about updated hardware. Should the Fall 2026 launch timeline pan out, it would see Spectacles beating the first Android XR glasses to market. At I/O, Google previewed the first audio glasses using the platform, with confirmation that a display-equipped model is planned for 2027. XREAL’s Android XR glasses are also due out before the end of 2026, but they’re a bit closer to a traditional VR headset than smart glasses. Meta’s display-equipped Ray-Ban Display glasses are already out on the market for $800. Where Snap’s glasses would

Man jailed after raping teenager he groomed on Snapchat – BBC

Police Scotland Scott Ijomanta carried out the attack in Maryhill, Glasgow, while on bail for grooming two other youngsters online. A man who raped a 14-year-old girl after locking her in his Glasgow flat has been jailed for 10 years. Scott Ijomanta carried out the attack in Maryhill in August 2024 while on bail for trying to lure two other youngsters he had groomed online to his home. The 38-year-old - who pretended to be a 12-year-old on social media while looking for victims - gave the teenager his address and offered to pay for her taxi. But once she was inside the property he kept the key on him. Ijomanta was convicted at the High Court in Glasgow of abduction, assault and rape as well as sending sexual communications to a child. Judge Tom Hughes said his crimes were "totally and utterly unacceptable" and "could never be tolerated". Hughes told the court that Ijomanta, who refused to stand up in the dock while being sentenced, put the children in a "very difficult situation". He added: "I can only hope, in due course, that they will be able to move on with their lives and put all this behind them."
