Telegram forgot to check his email and now it's banned in Brazil – Media Today Chronicle

Telegram founder and CEO Pavel Durov just made a statement about: Why The Brazilian Supreme Court is now suspending the app, and the reason is unbelievable. In the statement, which you can read in full below or on Durov’s Telegram channel, he says it was because his company check the wrong email address. “It appears we had a problem with emails going between our telegram.org business addresses and the Brazilian Supreme Court,” Durov says, explaining that his company has asked the court to send future takedown requests “to a special email.” email address.” But the court apparently didn’t — she continued to use “the old common email address” and Telegram somehow missed them, and now it’s being banned unless the court has mercy. The company says it has now found those emails (implying that at least the old address worked, making it even more bizarre that the emails were somehow missed), and is trying to resolve the situation with the to remedy the court. There is a lot of political context surrounding the ban, stemming from allegations that Telegram is facilitating the spread of disinformation, and my colleague Adi Robertson explains it clearly in this story. But to hear Telegram…

Sorry, Vimeo. Here's how things are going to change – Pirate Press

Sorry, Vimeo. Here’s how things are going to change Video-sharing network Vimeo has announced a substantial overhaul of its bandwidth policy, after complaints from various content producers over the company’s demand for hefty fees in order to keep their movies hosted on the service. The new regulations replace ambiguous terminology with clear ones and assure that authors will have sufficient time to prepare for any future adjustments. ‘ Vimeo has announced a new monthly bandwidth restriction of 2 terabytes in a blog post describing the changes. Previously, customers who were consistently “in the top 1 percent of bandwidth consumption” were subject to the restriction, which Vimeo concedes may have been more open about its application. In addition, the business claims that it would notify consumers when they exceed the 2TB limit, allowing them to either reduce their data use or brace for an increase in their monthly fee. For the first time, Vimeo’s new standards state that if an individual’s material exceeds a certain limit, they would be given “a minimum of 30 days” to respond to Vimeo and figure out a solution. Previously, a video maker was given nine days to upgrade his account, reduce his consumption, or lose…

Video Hosting Site Vimeo Raises Creator Subscription Prices Due to 'Bandwidth Consumption'

Ryan Epps, Tech Times 15 March 2022, 05:03 pm (Photo : Budrul Chukrut/SOPA Images/LightRocket via Getty Images) Various Vimeo creators have noted abrupt changes to their subscription plans over the past several days. The alterations are all but a business restructuring to the company, allowing it to render the fair use policy changed due to revenue concerns. To creators, however, it's a slap in the face from a platform that at the outset seemed ideal for their varied content to thrive.  Vimeo is effectively allotting said creators an egregious ultimatum: pay up or pack up. The platform's head of communications, Matt Anchin, explains to the Verge these changes as requirements based on a user's bandwidth threshold. After exceeding a bandwidth limit, Vimeo was obligated to restructure the plan with the creator.  "Our goal will always be to provide the best video solution possible and work with our users so they can continue to reach their audiences in high quality," Anchin says. "We know there is always room to do better, and we are working to enhance our transparency and communication around bandwidth usage, both on and off our platform."  Creators like Channel 5, a popular on-the-street interview content special, and Lois van…
