An offer giving people the chance to win "free crates of beer" for Father's Day, has been revealed as a hoax.The WhatsApp scam promotes a "Heineken Beer Father's Day Contest 2022" and says "5,000 coolers full of Heineken beers" are available to claim. The message also includes an image of a pack of Heineken beers.It appears to come to WhatsApp users via a contact and includes a link to click through to the beer company's website to enter the competition.However, clicking on the link runs the risk of exposure to phishing scams, spam and malicious websites which could potentially steal personal information. Heineken posted a message on its Twitter account, saying: "This is a scam. Thank you for highlighting it to us. Please don't click on links or forward any messages. Many thanks." A WhatsApp spokeswoman said the platform protects users' personal messages through end-to-end encryption, but she added: "We can all play a role in keeping our accounts safe by remaining vigilant to the threat of scammers. Jan Koum, who controls a multi-billion-dollar charitable foundation, has not uttered a public word even as many other wealthy Ukrainians and Russians announce donations toward humanitarian relief efforts.  But based on an examination of tax returns filed by Koum’s foundation before the war, the publicity-shy WhatsApp founder, who arrived in California as a teenager, is more entwined than meets the eye with the events rocking the country he left behind as a 16-year-old. Moving WhatsApp chats from Android to iOS has been a painful task for years. But not anymore, as Apple and WhatsApp have made the process a whole lot easier. Starting today, Apple is adding a feature that allows you to move chats between the two platforms. The feature is a part of Apple’s existing “Move to iOS” Android application. It’s worth noting that the feature is currently available for beta users only, so non-beta users might have to wait for a week or two as it’s rolled out in phases. This is a big move since 2 million people use WhatsApp and, until now, there wasn’t an official method to move conversations between Android and iOS. Last year WhatsApp added the option to transfer chat history from iOS to Android, starting with Samsung (in August) and eventually making it available for all Android 12 devices (in October). Transferring the other way, from Android to iOS, is going into beta testing today. This means that it will be a while before the option is available to everyone. The Maharashtra Cyber Crime department, while investigating the ongoing cases involving loan apps, has discovered a new racket, where cybercriminals can install WhatsApp on their phones using mobile numbers registered with other people. The advantage is that when these WhatsApp accounts are used for criminal activity, the police land up at the wrong person's doorstep while the actual criminals continue their activities.Earlier this month, the Cyber police had started investigations against Happy Loans, a loan app registered in Gujarat, after a Mulund resident registered an FIR against its recovery agents.The victim was getting messages on WhatsApp, in which the recovery agents were threatening to tell all his contacts that he was a rapist. The police traced the number from which the messages were being received and, to their surprise, found that it was registered to a vegetable seller from Dhule.“We brought in Gawli for inquiries and he turned up with local political representatives in tow, who demanded to see what proof we had. We showed them the messages sent from his number and Gawli placed his cell phone on our desk.
