(PA) WhatsApp will be blocked from millions of smartphones from today with users being warned to update their software.  The messaging platform will no longer be available on more than 50 types of phones. From today (1 November) WhatsApp will no longer be supported on 53 models of phones. It will not work on Android phones running OS 4.0.4 and older, and for iPhones it requires iOS 10 or newer. Users of Android and Apple devices have been warned to upgrade their devices or update their software. If upgrading to a new device existing accounts will be re-enabled when entering the same phone number associated with it. Although it’s not possible to transfer chat history between platforms, for example from Android to iPhone, people can still keep their chat history. This can be done by exporting chat history as an email attachment before November. People can find out what operating system their phone uses by checking it in the settings function. Mumbai: A special court here while granting bail to Aachit Kumar last week in the drugs-on-cruise case said merely on the basis of WhatsApp chats, it cannot be gathered that he had supplied drugs to co-accused Aryan Khan, the son of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, and Arbaaz Merchant. The court in its detailed order, a copy of which was made available on Sunday, also raised questions on the veracity of the Narcotics Control Bureau's (NCB) panchnama records said they were fabricated and seemed suspicious. Special Judge V V Patil, designated to hear cases related to the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, granted bail to 22-year-old Kumar on Saturday. The court in its detailed order observed that except for the WhatsApp chats with Aryan Khan, there is no evidence to show Kumar was indulging in such activities. “Merely on the basis of WhatsApp chats, it cannot be gathered that the applicant (Kumar) used to supply contraband to accused No 1 and 2 (Aryan Khan and Arbaaz Merchant), especially when the accused No 1, with whom there are WhatsApp chats, has been granted bail by the High Court,” the order said. Women who are suspected of having a genetic predisposition to or are at high risk of hereditary breast and ovarian cancer syndrome (HBOC) can use the chatbot to learn about the syndrome and how genetic testing can help, before they attend their first genetic counselling session at the NCIS Cancer Genetics Clinic. They can also use the chatbot to complete their family medical history for risk assessment at their convenience. Currently, those at risk of HBOC are referred directly to the clinic for a genetic counselling session to help them understand the pros and cons of genetic testing and discuss recommended preventive options with an expert.
