WhatsApp status leads to murder

He was earlier externed from the city and the district2 held for killing notorious criminal over dispute A notorious criminal was killed by members of a gang, who attacked him with bamboo sticks and cement block, in the Bibwewadi area. A dispute over WhatsApp status led to his death, said Bibwewadi police, who have arrested two of the accused in the case. A case of murder has been registered against a gang of 10 persons at Bibwewadi police station. The deceased has been identified as Madhav Hanumant Waghate (28, resident of Sahakar Nagar). Waghate was a notorious criminal with cases registered against him in Bharati Vidyapeeth and Sahakar Nagar police stations. He was even externed from the city and the district by the police. According to the police, Madhav Waghate, Sunil Khatpe and Sarang Gawli were acquainted with each other. A quarrel broke out between Sunil Khatpe and Sarang Gawli around 10 pm on Friday.
