WhatsApp develops new parental control features: Report – Anadolu

ISTANBUL WhatsApp appears to be developing new features aimed at giving parents greater oversight and control over their children’s accounts, WABetaInfo reported Sunday. The outlet, widely regarded as a key source of news on WhatsApp updates, said the messaging platform is exploring tools that would allow parents to manage linked secondary accounts. Under the proposed system, younger users would be able to create accounts with limited functionality, allowing parents to control who can message or call their child, the report said. By default, secondary accounts would restrict interactions to contacts only. “This default configuration helps reduce the risk of unsolicited contact and potentially harmful communication, as it prevents unknown users from reaching the child directly,” WABetaInfo said. Parents would also be able to review and adjust key privacy settings and receive updates about account or chat activity, without being able to read message content or listen to calls. “This will establish the relationship between the two profiles while preserving the privacy of messages and calls,” the outlet added. According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is currently testing the new tools, which are expected to be rolled out in a future update. Anadolu Agency website contains only a portion of the news stories

From Algorithms to WhatsApp Forwards: What Still Makes Advertising Matter | CNBC-TV18

What still makes a piece of advertising matter? In a conversation on the future of creativity, Ogilvy's Sukesh Nayak shared a simple insight: the real joy today is when an ad finds its way back to you as a WhatsApp forward - shared without context, attribution or intent to impress. Just something people felt was worth passing on. In an era shaped by performance metrics, platforms and AI, that quiet moment is revealing. When work travels person-to-person, beyond dashboards and algorithms, it signals cultural relevance, not just media efficiency. This idea sits at the centre of a candid discussion between Delshad Irani and the Chief Creative Officers of Ogilvy India - sukesh nayak, Kainaz Karmakar and Harshad Rajadhyaksha, on creativity, AI, risk-taking, Piyush Pandey and the evolution of legacy. ▶️ Watch Storyboard18 Sat 8:30am, Sun 11:30am and 2pm More from this author Explore content categories

“Secret chat mode” on WhatsApp: how to hide conversations without anyone noticing

WhatsApp incorporated and optimized a key function for those seeking greater privacy in their conversations: chat restriction, a tool that allows you to hide sensitive messages in a protected folder and prevent their content from being visible to third parties. The option, popularly known as "secret chat mode", aims to reinforce security within one of the world's most used messaging applications, in a context where access to the cell phone by other people is increasingly frequent. The novelty does not imply the creation of a new type of conversation or a visible change in the main interface, but an improvement in the mechanisms of discretion. Restricted chats no longer appear in the general chat list and move to a hidden space, protected by biometric authentication systems or security codes, such as fingerprint, facial recognition or password. In addition, notifications no longer display the content of the messages, reducing the risk of accidental exposure. This function responds to a growing demand from users, who use WhatsApp not only for informal conversations, but also to exchange personal, work or sensitive information. In that scenario, Meta, the company that owns the platform, seeks to offer tools that provide greater control over privacy without

These brands are posting WhatsApp status on Instagram – Social Samosa

Brands are posting on behalf of different characters in your life, be it the judgmental relative (Buaji), the sarcastic colleague, the overly concerned parent and others. We're here with one of the first social media trends of 2026 already, and it's only January 9 today. Brands on social media have hopped on the trend, sharing carousel posts that resemble everyday WhatsApp statuses. These posts adopt a text-led format that mirrors how individuals share short observations and updates online. You might wonder, when did brands start posting statuses on WhatsApp? These WhatsApp-style statuses are appearing on Instagram, where brands are recreating the look and feel of the messaging app's status feature. The approach reflects a broader shift as brands seek to align more closely with evolving social media narratives. Instead of polished graphics and promotional messaging, companies are now posting relatable, mundane observations that could come from anyone's contact list. However, brands have started posting relatable content more often than saleable long back. The statuses include everyday observations or behaviour of common people that are relatable to a mass audience. These are the kinds of conversations you'd typically hear from your manager who taunts you for asking about appraisals, your father

WhatsApp Opens Group Chats: What New Members Will See – Yahoo News UK

WhatsApp is working on a feature for group chats that shows new members selected older messages. This aims to help users quickly understand the purpose of a group without having to painstakingly sift through replies and hints. Currently, when someone is added to a WhatsApp group, they only see messages from the time they join. Important agreements, ongoing discussions, or decisions already made remain invisible. WhatsApp is now addressing this issue. As reported by the service “WABetaInfo,” which specializes in pre-release versions, the messenger is testing a solution that provides new group members with more context. Targeted Release of Old Messages Specifically, WhatsApp is testing the feature in the Android beta version 2.26.1.28. When adding a new person, group admins or invitees can decide whether and how many previous messages are shared. Options include tiered choices: the last 25, 50, 75, or 100 messages can be released. This way, new members get an overview of the current status without having to see the entire history. Control Remains with the Group WhatsApp continues to prioritize privacy. The release of older messages is not automatically active but must be consciously enabled. Only after this confirmation do the selected contents become visible to
